I've noticed my bike is hunting slightly at idle. Only around 100-200 rpm between 1200-1400rpm so nothing major really but could someone tell me if a PC5 and remap would sort this?

I'm getting a PC5 anyway so I can remap the bike with the Yoshi can and K&N (K&N not fitted yet) but was wondering if that will help with idle. When does the PC5 kick in? I was told it was 2000rpm and over? If so I'm guessing it won't change idle. Is it really a problem?

Mine does it too, just need to map it out. I've used the older power commander mapping software and it goes down to 1000rpm

Mine used to hunt with an aftermarket exhaust. Had a Bazzaz and remap fitted and it has ironed out the hunting. Runs sweet as a nut now :)

It will always hunt with the yoshimura R77 unless you fit the baffle regardless of mapping or not ...

Thank you for your input. Seems its a case of 'they all do that' with the Yoshi r77. I can live with it then if that's how they are.

I'll still get a pc5 for the fuelling when it gets past idle.

It must be right that the power commander only does the biz from 2000rpm onwards then.

Worth doing the custom map certainly ... Makes a massive difference to the mid range.

I got pissed off with the hunting, so sold the R77 and bought an Akrapovic ... It's fine with the Akra.

Why does the Yoshi hunt and the Akra doesn't then?

Is it due to the cat being removed? Back pressure? Something else?

Less back pressure in the Yoshimura ... Hence the idling issue ... If you partially cover the outlet with the bike idling you will notice the idle stabilises ...

I suspect the Akra has a smaller internal bore hence provides the back pressure needed.

Both my exhausts had no CAT.

Without the baffle the yoshi will hunt, less with custom map.
Run mine for a bit with a fixed map and POD-300 and found the AFR range at idle was massive, between 12.8 and 14.7 ish even with a custom map.

The reduced back pressure,'slow' exhaust velocities, reversion etc probably cause the hunting. I now run a autotune, contrary to recommendations I allow it to control the AFR at idle now runs really smooth.
