This week has become my annus horribilis of my motorcycling life.

After mullering my mirror by taking on a van mirror that had just cut me up, and not realising it was fixed frame jobbie, and snapping my mirror arm in the process, probably with much laughter to the tosser in the van.

I then compound my misery today by being a complete and utter w**ker

Mistake was washing my bike for the second time in 3 weeks, as I normally only wash a bike twice a year, it did not really need it, even though it was plastered.

Having changed all the pads yesterday and fitted a temporary borrowed mirror, I then washed the bike, rode it up and down the road to dry off the chain and brakes.

Pulled up to ride into the garage, jumped off, opened the door and back on the bike, went to ride in and decided I needed to move my paddock stands, got off the bike again, then the world went upside down............I forgot that I had flicked the sidestand up in my haste.......what a complete tosser, 37 years riding done a lot of stupid things, but in terms of w**kerism, this one takes the prize.

Now I am laying on the floor with my leg trapped under the left side of the bike, cursing like feck, but as I was stuck, so I surveyed the situation, front crash bung had kept the fairing off the floor, rear bobbin ditto, left hand took the impact under the bar end, no damage there, centre of bike wedged on top of my foot and leg, looking good there.....but I heard a friggin crack somewhere.

Anyway after a couple of minutes of no one around to help me , I decided I needed to get the thing off me, difficult but lifted it up on sheer anger and adrenaline, noticed some coolant flowing away under the bike, luckily it turns out to be from the expansion tank.

Then on closer inspection I notice the reason for the cracking sound, the left mirror has just clipped the edge of the fence and put a nice L shaped crack in the nose cone, exactly where the fairing stay sits under it.......bollox.

Still could have been a lot worse, luckily my leg took nearly all the pain rather then my wallet.

Serious advice here guys and girls, much better with the side stand down when getting off, and don't wash bikes more than once a year ;)

Bad luck dude....we've all been there one way or another...my last display or total w4nkerishness was putting my bike on it's side stand at a local meet a few years back....walking off thinking I was as cool as fook only to hear the thing crash to the ground as it rolled forwards off said side stand .

I'm with you on only washing it once a year. I washed and polished mine today, so that's it until 2015.

Very unlucky and in fairness a simple mistake if your mind is elsewhere, but I do like they way your proud of the leg that broke the main part of the fall, better damage a limb than to much of the bike

Got to say guys, just topped up the expansion tank...what asshole designed the placement of that mother, I now owe the missus yet another plastic funnel, had to cut into my garden hose and muller the screw on end of a tube of mastic, what a game of soldiers that is,

The nose fairing always cracks when the mirrors touchdown mate :(

I know as I also had the same experience during a very light venture onto the side.
Good news is that you can normally find a replacement for under £100 on the evil bay, bad news is that it is a ball ache to fit. (I'd say it took me around 3 hours to do).

Again I was the same. Although I managed to find a small enough funnel that I could fit a small piece of hose pipe to, and feed into the refill cap.
