i know its not a track day as such ??? but just booked to go the i,o,m for a long weekend 26th of april to the28th. not to busy and u have the mountain to you self. went last year with a mate who as been going on these dates for the past 8 years. and there is a kind of hard core group who go this time every year before it gets to mad to go full bore nice way to scrub some new rubber in for the scotland trip
We've done the IOM these last two years, nothing concrete had been mentioned about 2013 by the guys hence me doing the Scotland tour with ColinBR instead It's an amazing place. Not sure if you saw our post? Just in case here's a link http://1000rr.co.uk/touring/4441.htm
Just be sure to observe the speed limits where posted as it's very tempting to open it up and they do have a habit of moving them round a bit as well catching a lot of people out last year. I would also add that it's not a track as you know but it's home to many people who are just going about their normal day to day lives after some of the incidents I saw last year I always try to remember this.
just read it gary spot on? just hope the weather plays ball maybe next year we can sort forum trip over out ?
I'd willingly help with organising one should anyone feel the need? The ferries are the biggest problem, its the price, its always about the price, oh and the digs, you can't suit everyone with choice of location, some like rural, some like town, some use the term its like herding cats. And they are not wrong! The best you can hope, the peeps who do commit will be like minded as yourself!
it should`nt be that hard to sort out gary to be honest ? just give dates we would like to go i.e 26to 28 of april give the hotel name? am in the empress and say book it your self not to hard? at that time of the year you can get in almost anywere and its not that hard to meet up ?
Saw a documentry last night 'Grand Prix Racer' on ITV4 about the beginners class, entry, briefing, safety, practice & race... Must say most of the competitors saw it as a life changing experience, and there's all sorts of entries etc etc .... well worth the watch and has got me thinking.... maybe? But prolly best to be a spectator first!
I'm planning on an IOM trip next year for the TT with some mates (who are also going this year but I can't make it) but it would be great to get a few guys off here to come play as well.
Remember it's not just a case of entering the MGP or the TT, you need to work your way up to a full National licence before you even think about entering. That said, it is the most amazing experience and worth the effort and expense (and pain) to do.
I'll be going over next year, though I can't decide if I wan to go over for the races, or to go over just for a trip.
colin your more than welcome to tag along this year if u wish and next year too if i go or even if u just go on your own u will soon meet some peeps and away u go
This film is well worth watching. Don't let the title put you off watching it, this is exactly how I see the TT races. Very well done.
