This weekend - I'm off to SCOTLAND!!!

On Sunday, me and the missus are off for a couple of nights to somewhere south of Oban, staying in a hotel on the shores of Loch Awe. Hoping to be allowed in without my passport and without having to exchange for euros or anything. First time on the west of Scotland, having previously only been to Edinburgh and Dundee area. Planning a trip to Oban on the way up and possibly Glasgow on the way home, but could do with a couple of other places in that area that are worth a look. Will be taking the camera so anything good to photograph would be great. Anyone been or live near that area with any ideas? And yes - I'll be doing a few distillery tours ;)

Any Scots willing to help a fellow British citizen before you close the borders? :D

To get there go over 'rest and be thankful' pass down to Inveraray - passing the original Loch Fyne restaurant.

Make sure you walk up to the coliseum in Oban - great view down over town / harbour

Head home via Glencoe and the Green Welly at Tyndrum

If you are going as far as Oban, then it would be rude not to carry on up the coast a bit and get some pics on the way and at Eilean Donan Castle. Cracking roads and amazing scenery.

Stayed at loch Awe a couple of years ago.. rented a cottage with a bunch of friends and we just BBQ'd and drank the 3 days so sorry - not much help.. but a beautiful part of the world. We did venture out one day to Inverary and went to the old Jail etc.. as Colin says, scenery is out of this world :)

    View from the cottage:

    Enjoy mate.
But definitely get up to Eilean Donan Castle. Last Sunday was the first I had been.
Great roads and scenery on the way, and a stunning location too.
Spean Bridge on the way up too, stop at the. Commando Memorial thing.
I never stopped but passed it.
Inverary, Tyndrum, Callander, Oban, Glen Coe, Fort William and Kyle of Lochalsh.

Mind and bring a yellow coat so you can blend in with the 'majority'.
