Sadly sold my 05 Blade(had her 3 years 24,000 on the clock), now looking for something to replace it, have a few feelers out on other forums thought I'd try here as well. Not a massive budget I know, it's all I can justify for what is essentially a toy (I don't commute). Would like an 08+ Blade(finally got used to the looks) but I know my money probably won't get me a very desirable one. Not sure an 06/07 is different enough to warrant getting. But also been thinking Daytona 675 09+ or speed triple 1050 possibly open to others. If anybody's got something I my be interested in please give me a shout. Cheers
Ah, the man with the screen I bought! I can well understand your sadness for losing the 05. I'm enjoying my 04 immensely, and without even a hint of crap, I almost think it feels better than my 2011, so far as comfort and rideability go. I can't comment on the Triumphs, save to say they generally get excellent reviews, but I will say, after spending the last few weeks on eBay and Auto Trader, that you might be pushing it to find an 08+ in your price bracket. However, continual checking those aforementioned sites (plus Gumtree, maybe) could reward you with a gem. There are always bargains available; we just have to be first to find them. All the best in your hunt!
Hi, I'm about to sell my 06 Totally standard, just had a big services with new chain and sprockets, brake pads all-round and a new mot to be put on shortly red and black with fsh etc etc contact if interested Mark
I fancied a change from the Blade, I'm not sure it's enough of a difference between 04/05 to the 06/07 to scratch that itch. But I won't dismiss anything, Where are you? how many miles on the clock? Price?
Many differences on the 06, Sulaco, although not cosmetic. The recently published 'FireBlade' magazine: https://www.classicmagazines.co.uk/product/5535/bookazine-fireblade covers the lot in detail on page 91. To paraphrase, it has a higher revving engine, dual valve springs, lighter cams, revised combustion chambers and ports. There was also 3 kilos shaved from the frame, thinner discs and lower gearing. However, we would all understand your point. Why sell a bike and then go back to essentially the same one?
How about a Street Triple? Something like this - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2014-TRI...868883?hash=item2aa232dd53:g:0EAAAOSwXzNaeDTS The 765 version nearly made it onto my shopping list this year.
I have spent hours on the net today, and although I'm looking to get away from Japanese 4's (for a while) I keep getting drawn to a Gsxr1000k6 just up the road from me, 19,000 on the clock, 5 owners, psh, £4650, and a 2008 600rr totally standard with less than 11,000 on the clock FSH and on it's second owner for the same money. I hate having to buy bike's
Good find DF. 2014, low mileage, well-serviced by fastidious owner, and all for 5 grand. Agree with Sulaco about the nakedness though. When a certain type/style of bike appeals to us, we are not (most of us at least) inclined to compromise. I guess the 'search' will continue into the weekend!
I now have a "short" list of 956 bike's!!!! seriously why is it so hard, I'd hate to think of the problems I'd have with a bigger budget.
I think your problem is because you haven't set priorities. You aren't 'fixed' on a particular manufacturer, and you are reasonably negotiable on engine size. Your main criteria seems to be budget. Given the budget is essentially a 'fixed' item, next decide whether you want a Honda, Suzuki, or whatever. I remember Gordon Ramsay once saying: 'Get rid of half the f*ckin menu choices so customers can make a decision.' So there you are. No consultancy fees on account of our previous dealings!!
Yeah I did have an original short list it just grew as I started looking, but it always included the Daytona 675 at the top, and I've found one, just going to check it out now. It's an 08 se one owner(I wanted the 09 facelift really but given it's condition) with a staggering 4,900 miles on the clock, for well below my budget. Fingers crossed it's as good in the flesh as it is in the pics.
Sounds great, and a good combination: one owner & low miles. (Not that you're probably interested, but I use the same criteria in dating circles) I hope your viewing is worthwhile!!
Very nice, deposit paid, only minus was the front tyre, still on original pirelli dragon supercorsa pro!!!! 10 year old tyre rear is newer , but these tyres were discontinued some time ago I believe. New rubber please
Thanks to all for your input, despite not having a Blade at the mo, I'll hang around, just to keep an eye on things, and to offer assistance if I can.
Pretty much wiped out, got an oem heat sheild, a few nuts and bolts, and some oem indicator connectors.Your screen should be with you in a day or two.
