Last evening, at a mate's house I was extolling the virtues of the outstanding 'Chain Guard' thread and, as he's a CAD, CNC, Engineering lecturer I, jokingly, said that he should set his students exercises in which they have to make components that, by coincidence, would fit FireBlades. His response was that he was already in the process of designing bespoke crash mushrooms for his own 'Blade and added that personalisation of said mushrooms would add only moments to the CAD process. Unfortunately, my visit was cut short before we could continue in detail, but the seed has been sown...
He's the other half of the 'gay blade' photo (that's never going to go away, is it?). In fairness to him, he's always stated that if I can give him a half decent drawing, he can make virtually anything. He once made me some suspension hangers for the rally car out of a metal that didn't have a name, only a number, and they stiffened up the suspension so much, they broke the hubs. Top bloke. But the idea of Titanium crash bungs..... It would even look good while you were falling off.
hmmm, titanium crash bungs...nice and strong so that instead of bending as they are designed to, they bend your frame & engine mounts instead.
