    Hi,
I normally use the Google a Maps app on my iphone as a sat nav for the bike which is fine, however it will choose the route and roads to take.

I can create a personal route on the Google Maps website on the PC, but can't seem to transfer this to the app to follow using the sat nav.

Is there a way to import a route into the google maps app, or if not recommendations of an app where I can create and load a personal route to follow? I can also get the routes as a GPX file if that helps...

    Cheers

No, you can't do it on iPhone. You can import map routes using tyre to standalone units like garmin or tomtom rider, but iphone is a closed os.

Built in Gps, I use for running, cycling and on the bike.

Cheers, I use map my ride when cycling a lot, so will give it a go.

Map my ride/run won't give directions though?

Yeah sorry it won't give voice by voice directions only a map to follow, but there is talk of an update. Will check if anything else is available with this feature.

Don't know if this helps but you could create a route with map my run then upload this to a sat-nav for voice direction. But don't suppose this answers the question.........

Have a look at Tyre. It's a free custom mapping program and you can save your routes in a number of different formats. Might work

Thanks. I have gone for Copilot GPS for now, which is another sat nav app for the iphone.

You still can't import a route, but with this one you can add waypoints and drag/drop the route, so at least you can customise the route, rather than the fixed point A to B type. I will try it out and see how it goes

    Cheers

I guess it's a expense that you don't need before a trip, but I used a Garmin 660 for our Mugello 2014 trip and found it helpful as it has lots of extra bits, like fuel gauge, petrol garage finder, load music to play to my Scala G9 headset,
    Load pre planned routes.

I had loads of late must haves but this was the best one !

Also a Givi 307 tanklok was perfect size, not to big, adjustable forward n back, can fit a spare visor, so quick change from tinted back to clear, spare gloves, maps, passport vehicle docs,, cash for tolls n quick removal for fuel stops. Perfect!
