Has anybody done it, possibly by using an aftermarket shock as I have already fitted a 55 profile rear tyre. I want to get the bike turning in a little quicker and currently looking at getting a custom made Wilbers shock where I have the option to request a longer shock. Unfortunately its not possible to get a ride height adjuster on the shock only to have it made longer, hence the questions as the mod will be permenent so I can't go back if I don't like it unfortunately.
Can you lower the front instead. I have found a 3-5mm drop (other bikes) makes a significant difference. You have already raised the rear by about 10mm by using a 55 tyre. You can also keep the shock length the same & get a different linkage; some are even adjustable.
Cheers Swiss T. I could try and lower the front your quite right, I just thought it might be useful whilst I have the opportunity to increase the rear ride height it might be worth trying, but as its permanent I m not sure.
Are you thinking of this type of thing i mentioned in a previous thread or something else? http://1000rr.co.uk/mods-upgrades-accessories-products/6262.htm
Cheers guys I had previously searched for jack up kits and found nothing. That is what I had in mind but +25mm is far to much it would slap everywhere on the power, LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nitron could be tempting but they only do the Pro Race for the 08 Blade and its £960 I think, which is a lot more than the wilbers unit I m looking at. I already have +10mm at the back with the 55 rear and might try pushing the forks through the yokes 5mm and see what that does.
That should sort it, but I wouldn't go more then 10mm on the front! I'd buy a steering damper as well?
I'll try 5mm, little changes can make big differences. Its an RR8 mate so has the HESD2 as standard. Best Damper I have ever had makes Ohlins fitted on my other bike look so crude. Its that good you don't notice a damper is fitted but no slappers not even hitting the crest coming out of druids on the power, it really is a mega piece of kit.
Apparently, the _really fast_ people don't want to lower the front on this model joke anyway, cos it ultimately compromises rear grip, so I read on that internet anyway. For me, it's fine as it is. Wouldn't make any difference either way.
Increase the ride height !!! I want to decrease mine .... i am a short arse ! I have a 954 with an Ohlins shock on it, and although a major improvement on the standard item, it has increase the ride height.... i am about to have the seat recovered and '' comfy '' stuff added to it so that will increase the height i bit more !!!! I am at the moment trying to get some Heli bars for the bike to make it a bit easier but that is another story !
Normal Ohlins are adjustable both up and down can you lower it ? The difference is not equal for example on my SP2 3mm increase on the shock lifted the rear by 10mm.
