Got a repeat of a similar issue i had had before today. Summary of the issue/events today at silverstone 20-22 degrees air temp 08 blade hm shifter (with new rose joint at top where joins selector which attaches to input shaft) bazzaz fueling standard engine pretty much gearbox isnt that old sessions 1 and 2 were fine although towards end of session 2 i started to notice that i was having trouble and then finally couldnt use the q/s to upshift so had to use clutch or roll of throttle. prior to that gear changes were seamless using the shifter. session 3 - did 2 flying laps, fuel light went on so i came in. obviously bike got hotter as it was stationary. when i came to re-start bike it stalled. 2nd restart and i managed to get it moving but it was a bucking bronco, hard to get any pace going. like this in all gears for about 3/4 lap whilst bike cooled (presumably, although this may not be linked). was then fine and i could revert to riding it quickly but could not use the q/s. broke for lunch. bike cooled to 50 degrees. sesion 4 was fine for whole session, could use q/s for first 1-3 laps but then for maps 4-6 i had to use clutch. session 5 was fine for 3 laps (bike temp started at 70 degrees and rose to c.86), then bukking bronco returned (hurrendous fueling) for 1/2 lap, i cruised round, it again sorted itself out and i could get back on it. session 6 was identical to session 5 in all respects - including to within 1/4 of a lap when the hurrendous fueling kicked in. No apparent lack of power at any point during the day. during sessions 4,5,6 bike never went over 86 degrees, whether i was cruising round waiting for fueling to sort itself out or giving it some beans. The reason i mention the bike temperature a lot is that the last time this issue happened it was at a similarly warm cadwell in august last year. it was fine at a 6 degree cooler donnington later in august last year and then was fine 5 weeks ago at snett in 12 degrees air temp. Again, maybe (maybe not) the hotter air temp caused the issue today??? Could be an earthing issue on the q/s - i will check that - but if that was the issue surely that would be an intermittent problem, not related to speed or temperature or anythign else in particular? could be a generally faulty q/s - i will get that removed/disconnected for the next day as a contender for most likely cause what i dont understand is why temperature seems to play such a big part. Could it be more to do with cooling system? the temperature of the coolant seems fine. fan kicks in at 106 as it should. there is coolant in the rad - last replaced in march 2015. if there was sh*t in the fuel filter or a trapped fuel line etc surely the problem would be largely constant and i would have been able to do 2 full trackdays without the issue? Oil is castrol power 1 racing and has done 2 days now. fuel filter is new as of the same 2 days ago. The the isues happened at cadwell in august last year i was low on oil and assumed that played a part witht he gear changes. maybe it didnt. If i recall, i already have the q/s on a mechanically sympathetic setting with the fuel being cut for slightly longer than standard settings. ideas anyone pls?
Is the HM qs getting hot, either laying by a water hose or engine block? I know mine played around when it wasn't fixed properly with Velcro. (sounds wrong, fixed properly with velco). It was getting hot and played around, think screen read funny too ! Mine wasn't so much ran bad, just the shift didn't let me change. Worth a look n try.
