Inspired by Remals chain cleaning thread, and my hatred for the horrible Castrol Wax that Honda recommend you use, I decided to give my chain a bit of a clean as it's not been cleaned in 1300 miles and I wanted to start using PJ1 lube instead of Castrol.

    So...

    Before, utterly minging...

After, nice and clean, using PJ1 clear no fling lube...

Nice job mate. When chain worn out, replace it with a DID Gold X ring for more bling and no rust on links?

Ha ha now wheel off required and they wern't taken when the bike was new.

Lots of white spirit, lots of kitchen roll and a bit of time and patience.

Fully aware it will get dirty again pretty quick but it had 1300 miles of road grime and I like to clean and inspect it every now and then. If you keep on top of it and use a decent lube its not to bad.

As said do both. Main reason why mine was not touched for 1300 miles was that I was enjoying riding it. unlike me not to wash the bike after every ride but I made sure I detailed it before first use after having it then knew it would be ok for a while.
