    Hi guys,

I have a 2012 Fireblade and have had a Power Commander 5 fitted for a few years. I have recently purchased an HM Quickshifter Plus and have been watching videos about how to remove the airbox and access the ‘plug and play’ area where the QS is connected, and deciding if I’m brave enough to try it myself.

I just read however that there might be complications or some other means of connection due to my already installed power commander. Can anybody with knowledge let me know if any of this is true, or if the PCV has no effect upon the QS install?

As always, a huge amount of thanks to everybody in this forum for their help and guidance.

    Martin

From a quick Google search the pcv fits injector side the hm qs fits on the coils/ spark plug side. I fitted mine myself but fiddly but if you know which end of a spanner to hold its not a bad job at all.

Forgot say the air box is pretty easy to remove too. Once the tank cover is off easiest to remove the tank, but can be done with it in place lifted up. Then remove connectors over the air box, remove top of air box. Once inside it's 4 screws to remove trumpets and then box lifts out. There's a plug and a breather pipe on bottom of box to undo as you lift it then it's just a rubber heat shield which is stuck to the under side of the frame so I just gave it a good yank and it came away. Then it's a case of unplug the coils and put the quick shifter loom in place and run wire down to the earth (there's a big earth point under tank if you remove it) run little screen upto under seat and job done. Rebuild and enjoy some smoother quicker gear shifts. Removing the tank is only 2 plugs and a pipe fitting, I never dripped any when I took mine off and gives allot more space to work
