Hi, somebody accidentally rolled their bike into mine in a public carpark, mine fell over on the left-hand side; £1600 worth of damage , crazy I know. The guy admitted it was he fault, no problems etc. Both insurance companies notified etc. The quote for my repair from Honda in Hull forwarded etc. Still waiting for action!
What is the format? Should I phone my insurance company, or ask the other guy to chase his up?
What are the dynamics of a situation like this? What is a reasonable time frame? Thanks.
It has now been 3 weeks.

As you’ve notified both insurance companies you should be chasing your insurance for their approval to get the repairs done. They will then chase the other insurance company for settlement. You’ll most likely have to pay your excess initially then get that back from your insurer (as it wasn’t your fault) once the claim is settled.

Speak to them and get them to confirm in writing about what you should do to get the bike fixed asap, the excess and getting the excess back

Don't forget you then have to declare it at every insurance renewal for the next five years. Even though it wasn't your fault. Reet pain int arse.

Your insurance should pay for it and get the job done asap, then they do the chasing and claiming from the other insurance

Out of interest, what was the extent of the damage to your bike?

Front mudguard; front fairing, mirror and indicator unit, plastic petrol tank cover(£600 ish) and the plastic piece of bodywork, which which houses the pillion seat. Most chipped or scratched. I have not claimed for the ASV lever, foot pegs, Yoshimura bar end and crank case cover; I have managed to sand and clean these. I did not want to give the poor guy a heart attach! £1624..... for a load of plastic.....crazy.

    Cheers.
The guy was pushing his BMW GS backwards whilst sat on it. Apparently, he did not see my bike! I always ride in forwards and drag the bike out, to avoid this situation.

At least either you caught him or he left his details - even more a pain when you just come back to find your pride and joy on the deck

Wow. I had no idea of those costs. It reinforces what a great deal the Chinese stuff is - assuming the ones you get piece together okay. (Not that I'm suggesting you do that, GG, just musing);)

Just phoned my insurance company today. They say the other insurance company are refusing the claim, or something to that affect.
Apparently they can do this for 90 days! Which will take us till Dec 19th (ish).
I have the phoned the guy who caused the damage and asked him to chase the case up; which he is going to do.
Honda in Hull, have told me, there is a company which will "look" into the case for me; apparently you have to accept a hire bike from them.
It will not cost me, they apparently make their money from bike hire!
I might go done this root if there is no action in the next few weeks. What I don't understand is, how can they not pay up?
The other guy has admitted liability.
