Insurance due for renewal next month so the usual search is underway and prices are very good ( but then I am nearly as old as Ken). UNTIL ..............I look at the excess rates, basically £500 voluntary plus £600 compulsory , making a mere total of £1100. I just love being ripped off...........and I haven't even got as far as the mods yet. The search is gonna be extensive this year, and expensive if I have a claim.
'kin' 'ell! You must be well dodgy if you're nearly as old as me and it still costs you that much to insure it.
no BUT I'm in a BS5 postcode which is almost as bad a London, almost. Fully comp, and protected with mods for £390. Your in the sticks mate in wales. Only the sheep are scared and not the bikers
Mine was £700 in total but I really see insurance as more of a piece of paper just to be legal. I've been driving 21 years and have never had a crash yet and never claimed a penny from the insurer despite having had my car broken into about 8 times. Haven't claimed on my home insurance for anything either. Or my health insurance It's just a scam and they'll try anything and everything to wriggle out of paying you anyway. My premium for fully comp was less than £200. That's all I really care about.
If I get rid of the voluntary excess the premium goes up of course. The premium is good, £96 fully comp with protected no claims. See it's good......... unless you have to claim. Then of course when you do ,they not only make you pay the excess............ they then tell you your bike was worth about £1500 or more less than it is. That is of course, if they actually agree to pay out and not try some dodge of contributory negligence or similar
Going onto ebiker as next step, have all the other info from gocompare, will see how it pans out. Can't wait to tell them about the performance mods !
I recently did mine on the bike insurer, they were coming out rediculas before got mine down to 280 with 500 excess I am 29 full ncd, did get an offer from i think it was bike devil and had no excess but premium was just over 400 and as I have never had accident I thought I will go with the lower premium
High theft rate is it mate ? Its silly you are penalised for where you live but i guess that is tough luck .
