One year on and I've had my renewal through today!

Last year due to having Zero NCB I got Raped £850 Fully Comp despite living in a nice Postcode, agreeing a 4K mileage limit and the Bike being in a locked outbuilding!

What a difference 1 years NCB makes as this years premium is now £326! :D

I'll still be shopping around so anyone got any recommendations?

MCE will be cheaper I'm guessing but I don't mind paying a few quid more for a more reputable company?

Go for a specialist classic policy with an agreed value, they are often quite cheap as these bikes do little miles and are cherished by their owners which in turn is reflected in the policy charges.

Just taking out mine last week

I was with Swinton who quoted me £259 renewal but after a quick comparison site check Bennett's came up with the best overall cover (not the cheapest)

MCE was the cheapest at £136
But had no legal cover or no protected NCB

So went with Bennett's for £154 with protected NCB, legal cover, breakdown cover and leather cover

    41 yr old
    8 years NCB

When Swinton did call me to offer the renewal I mentioned they were miles away with the price & told them what I had been quoted and instantly they said
"well we can do that for £179"

My reply was why did you just quote me £259 if you can suddenly do the same for £179 ?

The reply was a load of bull, I'm convinced they just make half of bit up as they go along

Defiantly pays to do your homework first

    Sorted!

MCE was cheapest at £260 but didn't include riding another bike or Euro cover, also their Vol Excess was £500

    £283 with Hastings Direct Premier.
Fully Comp with only a £100 Vol excess plus compulsory £500
    90 Days Euro Cover
    Ride other Bikes
    Blah Blah Blah

    Only got 1 years NCB
    That'll do me Pig! :)

What is it with us having to pay more for legal cover? Surely it should be included as what would happen if we had an accident including someone else.

Thing with legal cover is that they will pass your details onto their "approved" company and receive a fee for doing so. Double Whammy for the insurance company.

    Waste of money Legal Cover!

All they do is assign your case to a junior clerk at a downmarket legal firm whose prime goal is to settle your case as quick as possible as they only have a few hundred in it.

Your best interests are last on their list.

Been quoted £370 from my own insurance company with an additional year of NCB, MCE that is. Been quoted £341.75 Hastings Direct Premier, Protected NCB, £350 excess.
    Your thoughts please?

Mine is with MCE 1 year NCB. 27 years old £380 tptf.

MCE was the cheapest but they didn't stop ringing me with promotions in the first 2 weeks. Then they told me if i wanted excess insurance for an extra £80, they pay the excess if i make a claim, what a load of bull. I wouldn't want to deal with them if i had to make a claim, pain in the butt

Thanks everyone. When do you know to stop looking and just go for it.
Slightly concerned over Hastings not asking what my mods are just ask how much money spent on them.

Rules have changed now so all they want to know is their 'exposure' is, i.e. what the Bikes worth with all Mods.

They're not overly interested what these are just what the Payout cheque will av 2 B

When I called Hastings Direct and they asked about the mods I have now been told they can't insure me.
