If you can provide written evidence of your NCB most insurance companies will accept a laspe of 2 years, but I suggest you phone a few just to make sure.

Oh S**t, my insurance was £250 quid, if it goes up a good bit I wont be able to afford it if they don't accept the no claims, proper downer now.

they usually dont accept any ncd if its been more than 2 years since you had a policy. As you say it's been 3 you will have to be starting from 0 again, which is going to be a real bummer - sorry

As i have suggested ring a few insurance companies, sometimes they would also consider other factors such as age and how long you have held a full licence, they are many bikers who have not ridden for a few years and still get reasonable quotes, it's often worth considering purchasing an old hack just to insure 3rd party to keep in your garage or a small commuter bike just to keep your insurance up to date if you decide not to ride for a couple of years.

Thanks guys, will call them tomorrow if their open, don't want to miss out on this blade, I have had my license 10 years and 41 years old with many bikes and then a break for 2 years and 5 months, then your premium goes up for that, typical. May just get a ZX7R if this happens but I really don't want to.

If you cant afford ins for a 04 try one that's 15 years old cos it comes under classic ins and a lot cheaper!! [cant have my urban tiger I'm getting tho lol]

You just got me thinking, so have checked my ins £70 tpft or £140 fully comp. I tried tpft without any no claims and it was £130 so if you can live with a old CBR that the way to go mate!!

    What Barmy said:

I had a longer lapse than that. So started again from zero. But don’t take it lying down, talk to them; tell them about your past rides etc. I did and got Carole Nash down by about a third to what I considered was reasonable (£ 550 for a new Blade ) considering the situation. Having said that they did want to know the ins and outs of a ducks arse, so be prepared to be able to answer questions about what and when etc. I also had to accept a huge excess of £750 though.

Thought I'd put question in here as its an insurance theme anyone noticed premiums going up. - cancelled my 2010 blade policy payin 300, trying to insure 2012 can't get it anywhere close to that, full ncb, licence since i was 17 now 29 no convictions. 300 to 1000 has taken the new bike smile off my face a bit.
