Well I bought a second had set of intake tubes from 1000rr73 ... as soon as they arrived i pinged the flaps and springs out ... then when it came to covering the holes i wondered why bother, so i chopped the linkage off the actuator and cut off the vacuum pipe attachment and bunged them back in place.

Holes filled perfectly but nothing protruding from the actuator itself!
    Job Jobbed!

Apart from the minute weight saving ... any other reason to remove them and block up the holes??

I didn't mean the flaps I meant the actuators ... I understand why the flaps have to go
