So I have got around to installing the clear integrated rear light which was a simple job and it works brilliantly, it has three quick pulses when the brake is applied and the indicators flash from the middle out I had a R+G tail tidy but its a big unit and with the indicators removed it looked rubbish, so and I apologies to the likes of Colin and Megawatt for my skills or complete lack of them, I decided to make my own. Unfortunately the sheet of aluminum I found in B and Q is to thin and was all they had so I have had to triple layer it around the bend to support the number plate, it is not pretty, but it does work, I used the R+G led to light the numberplate and in time I will remake, using better materials, unless someone with more skill and the correct kit want to have a go using my awful attempt as a template ? I was just seeing if it could be done and if it would look good, which IMO it does compared to the tail tidy. Also Steve, I will get around to fitting the extra LED's like you have but didn't have time this time around thanks again Some pics Before After
well done Jamie. Did you see my thread some time ago where i modified the stock undertray to take the numberplate? http://1000rr.co.uk/mods-upgrades-accessories-products/2143.htm
What size is that aluminium mate ? 2,3,4mm as all I could get was .5mm sheet ? And I don't know what to order so that I can work myself and bend at home if you know what I mean As you can tell I have more ambition than skill, but would like to do a better job of this as it works and looks good IMO My rear unit still has the r&g adapter plate fitted so has five Allen bolts holding it to the rear, looks tidy. Had not seen your attempt which looks so much more professional than mine it's a great read
Looks good mate . That 1 of the first thing i done was integrated light and DIY bracket . I done it on my old bike as well but it was loads harder to do . Not to bad on the Blade
I have the same tail light on mine and had the similar dilemma with the r&g tail light. So I bought this 330665247677 from eBay.I had to fit the r@g number plate light to it an drill a hole for the number plate wires to go through but other than that it looks awesome. I'm abroad at the so no pics sorry. Will post some up when I return.
if you use the stock undertray like I did, the three holes where you remove the "bee sting" are perfect. The two side by side are used for the number plate hanger and the single one is perfect for the led light. I may even have another LED number plate light if you want it Jamie. I used stainless for my bracket. I think it was about 1.5mm.
Thanks Steve, I am happy with my design, I just need a stronger material for piece of mind going to order some stainless 1.5mm thanks for the advice I am going to remake what I have done with the LED numberplate light I have as the cover I have seals the hole and gives good support to the tail tidy, thank you for the kind offer but I don't think I will utilize it with the current design.
No probs mate. I wasn't criticizing your design, just saying what I did. That rear end looks well tidy now.
I know you were not, and likewise, I just know it works and I like the look of it Plus I am shocked I managed to get it this far lol so want to try and get a half decent finished article on the bike lol Just wish I had better resources and kit to do the job
