Right then, Im no spanner guru so lets get that out in the open :)

however i can quite happily follow instructions well.....That is if i had any :suicide:

    Just had this delivered - CBR1000RR 08 > Int LED Clear Tail Light - Suitable for Aprilia RSV 1000 (Mille) RSV 1000 (Mille) Ducati M 600 (Monster) M 696 (Monster) 748 (Biposto) 748 (Biposto) 748 (R) 748 (S) 748 (SP) 748 (SPS) 749 (Biposto) M 750 (Monster) 848 M 900 (Monster) 9

No instructions but thought it cant be that hard surely? well pic below is what the connectors look like that are on the end of the cable from the new light:

SO went for the immediately easy options and looked for connectors under the seat cowl and then under the seat itself, neither had anything that looked like that.

I did however have a connector under the seat cowl where it looks like the garage have attached the R&G tailtidy:

So the question is, am i looking in the right place or does the underside of the tail need to come off e.g - remove tail tidy and hopefully find missing connector there?

OR am i being a complete spanner and i need to start taking apart the wires from the connector in above picture (under seat cowl) and then find what connects to what? (not my preferred option as im likely to be there all night and still get it wrong or need more bits/connectors from a hardware shop)

I have not fitted a CBR1000 intergrated one but my Yamaha had the same as this..... the black plug and the 2 connectors fit into the sleeve just as you open the rear seat it should be there i think that is the same as the one in the second picture dont worry about the colours there never the same ...... this should be attached to the lights from underneath

I am sure those cables in the tail unit are for the rear led and indicators. you must have to remove some more to get to the rear light connector. I think the cable runs under the tray from the light.

Sorry cant be much more help

Those cables are exactly the same as my integrated light.

Strip the tail tidy off and get back to just the connectors on the bikes actual loom . The tail light connector does just plug right into a white connector. follow the cables back . mine is right back under the riders seat next to the battery.

the blue and yellow wires are each indicator . you only have to wire them to the posotive cables for the indicators for them to work.

I cut of the oem indicators connectors to wire to so that i dont need to cut the bikes ones . ,

with the negative wires from the connectors attach the resistor , then atach the other end to the same connection as the posotive wire and the tail lights indicator wire so that you have a loop. this slows down the blink rate .

ok that sounds confusing.. i found a very helpfull how to guide on youtube.. its for a cbr600 but its exactly the same.. i will find it now and post it for you to watch

good work dan, now just watch me fook this up :)

So basically start with taking off the R&G and trace the wires back to find the matching connector under there OR find the connector near the battery that matches the one on the light? Ill be honest, i didnt see one when i looked last.

Yeah get the R&G off and out of the way to keep thing simple.. Trace everything back to the bikes 3 connectors . white is the stop light. light blue and orange are the indicators ..

then do the same as in the youtube vid

    Dan,

Right then, i think ive sorted it mate but i dont have any resistors, i did actually ask them (M&P) if they were needed and they told me no. but everythings flashing about a million times a second. what resistors do i need and would halfords sell them dya reckon?

so far ive just plugged the wires in like the below picture for now, im going to take the connectors off the oem indicators in a minute and just put them back on the new cables to connect up the single wire for each side. Is that ok to do that?

Yeah if its all blinking fast then all you need is resisters . Im not sure if halfords will have . On an older bike i got 2 resistors from an electrical store .

Simililar to these which look identical to what i had with my light from M&P ( before it burnt down )

You can get flash relays for bikes to slow down the blink rate as well.

They are blinking fast coz L.E.D's don't use much power and your bike thinks the bulb has blown.. you either need to trick the bike with resisters or use a relay to bring the power down

    Cool, cheers Dan

Just put it all under the cowl for now and put everything back together, it looks awesome now with no big indicators sticking out, really slims down the look.

I would go for those mate .. I paid 5 bucks for 2 at an electrical store for my last bike and i had to solder them in etc .. they look much better and easier to fit

Mine is also from M&P but mine was more expensive and came with resisters . This was before M&P burnt down so they may have different stock now . To be honest the quality of the one i have paid 80 bucks for is no better than the ones i got from ebay for my last 2 bikes which cost 20 bucks each ..

Next time i will be buying from Ebay.. I only got the M&P light as i thought it was gonna be plug and play but its the same
