http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycl...64?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item51a9f93534 Front wheel is Ok on yer own but I have yet to manage the rear without roping in someone to help! Having watched the ProMo vid this looks just the ticket so have ordered one!
Looks a good bit of kit I use a block of wood which works as well but for that price worth buying one as looks better in the garage than a block of wood . Just bought one cheers for posting bet you get loads of people asking about them on your trackdays you do . As a simple but very affective tool.
There was a timed rear wheel swapping competition at the TT this year - this device would have come in handy! Do I really need one? Yes - just ordered, Thanks SineWave
had one for a couple of months now, it saves damaging the paint on my repsol rear wheel when trying to align the spindle /chain/adjusters and rear calliper carrier.
i'm not sure if someone makes them for the zx10's,but i had a captive bracket that held the rear caliper in 0place on the balde, and this made changing the rear a doddle as you didn;t need that 3rd hand to position/hold the caliper, whilst lifting the wheel and pushing the spindle through. they are about 45 quid for the blade.next to having the full quick release set up (which i miss off my 07 ) this is a close 2nd
That does look handy, I have some suitably sized bits of wood which I made up after watching my local mechanic do a rear wheel change. However I am not sure that thing would go low enough to work with my Harris stand. Anyone tried that combo?
I use a block of wood or even....two, or my boot, can put a blade wheel in 20 secs easy.. hop chain off with rag, leave rag round chain and hang on swing arm, lower wheel slightly and slide caliper braket out wheel falls free, remount wheel by hopping chain on, slide caliper mount into rail, spindle in..it's easy! Tbh an underslung caliper does not make it any quicker it's just easy with practice but I've done it prob a thousand times...lol AND what's wrong with a lump of wood? Had mine for 25 years...and I rekon it will be worth a few quid in another 25
Ten Kate sell these.. I know padgetts run these for their superstock machines too (SBK has underslung brembo!) Ive yet to fit it but ill let you know what its like once I do
I bought one a while ago due to thinking hey that should make things a bit easier, eh well tbh I think it's crap and end up volleying it out the way an go back to block of wood n the arch of my foot to lift n hold the rear wheel in place! It would work ok but it takes ages to adjust the height screw thing and I found my wheel needs to get lowered a lil in order to remove the caliper! They are really cheaply made and mine wobbles when turnin adjuster screw, the welding is all over the place not even the centre thread is drilled centre!
He's just being honest mate, which I can vouch for that he is honest as the day is long. I also have tried this and it is a total pain in the c**k. Engineering wise (if you can even call it that), I'm surprised it passed any sort of standard.
It may just be the 1 that we have tried though, so hopefully all is well, as it would be a handy thing to use. Let us know how yours compares, so that we can at least get an overall view on it.
Ok so what do you want me to tell you? I have one and it's the berries and everyone should spend their hard earned cash on this! Then when it arrives folk can then say what the feck this is a piece of crap which I only bought due to my high praise of the unit!
used mine again today , as you say it is a bit shabby on the welding etc, but for less than the price of a chinese takeaway for 2 people ,it saves my orange wheels from getting damaged. a piece of wood is ok if you only have one bike and one set of paddock stands , but i have a track bike as well as other bikes ,so the adjustability sells it for me.
Well I am still waiting for mine but for £15 its no drama if it is crap , even if I use it as a template and take to a local guy I use for all my welding/fabrication stuff .its good to have an adjustable one as I do a lot of trackdays I like to help others out in the garage when I can and my block of wood isn't always suitable for other bikes.
