I have been given the green light by the boss for this. Why 2016 u ask. I do le mans 24 hours every other year with mates. Booked for this year in June. taking the kit car and other nice motors with mates.
We intend to go on bikes and cars as a few do not have bike licence. I will be taking the bike and most likely in my mates van with his bike and my BIL who is not a biker. So the convoy will be bikes, cars and a van or 2.

Many want to go to the TT but as non of us have been I want to find out some info below.

Where do you book the ferry ( I know these book quick so i will need to book a year in advance).
is there different place to book the ferry or just 1 I need to look at?

Also we are all in the South west and south wales area. So where are the ferrys from? Liverpool area off the top of my head comes to mind as it's only about 3 hours from us

Camping. We intend to camp. Where is the best place to camp? does it have the basic amenities such as loo and shower?

We also would love to be based somewhere you have a pub close and supermarket? Any ideas

    So what do you suggest?

Liverpool and heysham mate you will be able to book from the return ferry onwards in 2015 for the next year .

Deposits taken at first then balance in February book ASAP as people don't mind wasting £20 thinking that they are going .

You can book again in February but can be a bit of a pain only people that do it are steam packet .

Start looking for b&b now or hotel these are ram packed all the time .

First 2 years camped last year of camping pissed down I'd never camp again . But if camping is the one you go for there are loads Douglas rugby club is one of the nicest but most busiest .

3 years after I got us after 5 days on telephone a b&b in Douglas nothing special but right in the heart of it with good parking .

I haven't been since 2010 as been doing euro trips but bloody miss it such a good Craic .

Been on a gsxr 1000 zx10r blade you will love it makes me wanna go now

My mates stopped in a barn see pics
    Ha ha

    Ferry tickets Steam Packet Company

Homestay is a good option depending upon how many of you going, plenty of accommodation can be found Forums - The official Isle of Man TT website

Or if a group going look into hiring a house or flat can work out quite reasonable if there is enough of you to share the cost.

But the most important thing is getting the ferry booked fills up very fast.

    Any questions let me know.

ferry ticket usually go on sale around 28th of may, check steam packet site for details.
i sit with the mobile phone in one hand and the home phone in the other, and start ringing just before 8.30 am .
it takes about 1.5 hours on average to stop getting the engaged tone and actually get through to the recorded message,
after that you will wait for about half an hour before you actually get to speak to somebody to book it (isle of man is classed as abroad so mobile phone will be costing you 36p per minute so make sure you have plenty of credit)
there are a couple of tt website forums that you can put up your lodging requirements and hope that someone contacts you , or just keep checking daily for people that will put you up.
a lot of people will only put you up if you are staying at least a week.
the weather can be dreadful in june for the tt so i would defiantly advise getting a proper "home stay " as they cost the same per night as it does to camp out in the cold.
try to get your lodging sorted out before booking the ferry so that you know how long to book the ferry for .
seriously .. i would be sending off emails just after xmas next year to find lodgings , it can be done .. i had to book 2 separate home stay places to get all 8 of us in.

Great time will be had, BUT, you can do a euro trip for 9 days cheaper than a week at the TT....

loved my my time there though, but couldn't get out on roads due to people throwing themselves over the mountain.

+1 on Homestay. I have booked a cottage before with a group of lads and it was ace, but Homestay beats it if you get a good host.
Once you get a good one, you have digs sorted for life too, as you just go back to the same place.

Done euro trips and after talking to mates will be doing the TT with biker mates instead of in cars and on bikes.

Looks like it's going to be a Euro tour now mixed with a weekend at Either the Belgium, German or Italian F1

As said before book early, it's getting more popular every year. I stayed in homestay before, I kept checking out the forum at Welcome to iomtt.com - The official Isle of Man TT website until one came up. This year my mate and I have managed to get a studio apartment in the south of the island for £39 a night each which is very good considering what some people are charging to rent out property. Self catering is good as I won't tempted to eat crap for a week. As Si said, the money I will spend at the TT would keep me comfortable for 2 weeks in europe but for a full on bike experience there's little to top it. Get out very early if you want to ride the mountain, while most people are sleeping off their hangovers. I was up and out by 06:00 and barely saw another bike. Do a couple of laps, head down to Peel to have kippers for breakfast and then I planned my day.Riding around the course is a pain in the arse during the day, there's just too many bikes on there and the mountain road will be shut at times after somebody has launched their bike at the scenery.

Have usually camped and been with the lads.
This year though I am taking the wife and have managed to get a wee B&B in behind the Grandstand.
Campsites we have stayed on and been fine have been Quarterbridge Rugby Club (basic, very basic), St Georges (excellent location, decent bar and toilets and showers), Ramsay AFC (decent parking, showers, cafe and bar).
Ferry prices are up dramatically this year as well.

    Greetings,
Re crossing then as previously, Steam Packet have a monopoly so the price rises every year, if you dont want to load down the bikes then iomtents.com - Re-inventing the holiday home - Tent hire on the Isle of Man do pre erected tents with tables, chairs and beds, bit pricy but have used them the past three years without problems.
Douglas Rugby Club at Quarterbridge has got busier each year with no increase in facilities (or cleaning of them) given the amount they charge this is cr*p. Very good site is St Georges next to the grandstand limited numbers and good clean well run sitesite.St Johns is also pretty good. There are also a number of small private sites around the island, my favourite is a back garden in Peel with loo and shower in the garage.... Budget £800 each to cover...probably more by 2016....Mike
