Who else got out for an isolation ride this weekend? I saw a pic on the news of a load of bikers clogging up a cafe near Matlock - that's not quite the idea I got out today - and after a winter and having been away, it's actually the first time it's been dry enough I could ride the 'new' SP properly and with the quiet roads could actually give it some oomph. Bloody hell it's quick! Obviously my RR6 is quick too - but because the throttle on that is linear it's less surprising as you twist more or get into the higher revs. The digital brain on the SP which flattens the curve means when you actually do hit party time it's quite alarming! Was having a gentle play with a 'busa on the way back into London, until a knobber on a 2002 R1 in jeans and trainers, tiny numberplate, (both) knees flapping like a frog (in a straight line).... you know the type - SQUID... came hooning round the outside on a corner on the A41 and I thought... I'll let him add to the country's rocketing mortality rate all by himself.
Glad you got out. Sadly where I live the council seem to have a priority to use up its supply of grit whether it’s required or not. Some of the side streets have that much if you’re not careful your bike could slide away from under you. Frustrating given it’s been the nicest weather since September.
Well I was with hundreds of bikers today 'clogging' the cafes in Matlock ....or rather we were stood outside in the sunshine with takeaway drinks etc and probably the same distance apart as everyone in the supermarkets this week Our Blades... And about every other make....
Got out today for a few hours, had a ride to the coast, had a coffee and people watched for a while then rode the long way home. Watched Boris on the TV and thought f*** this is getting serious now. But until we have lockdown making the most of time away from the office. Stay healthy you lot . Brad
I managed to get out for a ride too. Was windy and cold but had to be done in the sunshine. Didn’t stop at a cafe though.
I cant get out .. apart from still being off with a knee injury. Some twat has filled all the holes in the back entry with sand . It's about 8inches deep in some places mixed with mud and water. It's like a swamp. When we drive the car through it and in to our drive way it comes in on the tyres. It's making a right mess.
I managed to get out with a good 100+ miles to Marlborough to blow the cobwebs away, bit fresh first thing but all good.
Did a nice 300 Mile run from Birmingham to Crossgates, up the A483, over to Aberystwyth, back down the A44, back up to Newtown for another a483 run, then home Absolute belter, those are the best roads I've ever ridden, especially when nobody else is about!
Out on sunday and again first thing today. Empty roads a bit of sunshine - bliss. Running the SP in nicely. Got brake levers and most if the electronics dialled in to suit me. Just need to adjust the gear shift and increase the pressure required on the quick shifter and should be good. Still not fully opened her up but have started to explore the 10 and 11k area now even though she only showing about 180 miles I get bored trying to run in for too long
been riding almost everyday since mid last week when the rainstorms paused I am a lone rider so riding in isolation is all the time. In addition to practicallity, it is also a therapy for me: focus, concentrate, commit and enjoy. Must say the bitter wind and cold temperatures since Sat do really bite (numb fingers are coming back) but gritters have been away (till now)
I know Marlborough well and recognise that point at the end of the high street. I was there last summer seems ages ago, just hope its not that long before I can visit again.
Gutted for you Bikeboy, GWS with the knee injury! I was off my bike for three months due to a broken collarbone, missed riding so much. Had to use the cage daily for getting into work until better - YUK!!!! Chin
CAN I RIDE DURING BUDWEISER VIRUS... https://www.visordown.com/news/gene...ssential-motorcycle-travel-permitted-lockdown Enjoy the ryde!
I've just dropped one of mine off for early service and the other one straight after. It's a small local garage. MOTs are carrying on as normal. If the government suspends them like it has the hgv and service vehicles at the moment it will issue the 3 mth cover online as it has the aforementioned. So unless your mot guy becomes ill or shuts you will be OK. And even then there will be somewhere else open.
That was prior to last nights announcement. Updated info here : https://www.visordown.com/news/gene...ssential-motorcycle-travel-permitted-lockdown
Thanks Ian E, I have now replaced my original link to show the updated version. Apologies all members for giving out the wrong info, my badd! Chin
