It can happen as easy as that, some daft twat doesn't see you even when you're right in front of the c*** BBC News - David Holmes: Head-cam footage of motorcyclist's fatal crash
We ve currently got two Threads on this.............. Very shocking but at 97mph who's actually at fault ?? its a harsh reminder to all of us in how one moment of twisting the wrist it could all be over........ daft twat you say ?? would car have made it if David had been travelling at 50 ? (I don't know actual speed limit of that road) but the driver must have been traumatised with the outcome..... it turns my stomach over watching and with cams being used today so sad it captures his last moments.......but maybe a reminder for all of us to be extra cautious especially at junctions etc......
He was going too fast you're right, but he was smack bang in the middle of the area the driver should have been looking at, i.e. for any oncoming vehicles, he couldn't have been any more visible. Don't know if he had his headlights on but still you have to ask where was the driver looking.
I agree but as a car and bike rider I often witness inexcusable acts of madness by both (I'm no angel) myself at times........but one thing for sure this is one hell of a road safety campaign video.... does anyone know if driver has been charged ?..... speeds at almost a ton for the rider.... ?? lets just give thought to his family and admire their courage for allowing (I guess) millions to see it...... I was tailgated by some complete knob just the other evening when only just overtaken him and pulling in with no cut up or hard braking.....he decided to come up behind me and I guess let me know he was a sad prick who does nt like bike riders overtaking him !! what shit him out was two of my mates was behind him and decided to "box him in".... one false move by any of us could have resulted in......well dare I say ??
Totally agree with Rob on this, saw the thread last night and its been on my mind ever since. I would assume that the speed limit on this road was 50/60 mph, at 97 mph the bike would have been travelling at 142' per second. The car driver should have seen David approaching but at that speed ?. We are all guilty of riding above the limit on some/most occasions, without considering how quickly things can go wrong. The above is my opinion only. RIP David
We all make cock ups, I've pulled out on a biker myself My main point of this post was not really to lay blame but show, as I think we all know anyway, that we're only one moment away from this happening to any of us. It says in the video that the driver was charged, don't know what with tho'.
Seen this on all three threads now... And have real mixed views, so I'm leaving it at that. Wish the family all the best for their loss.
Prob is rob, it's so subjective it'll always cause debate, but like I said, I'm not commenting on it as I know ill say the wrong thing. Terrible shame though for all involved.
