The thickness of the leather does not mean much, its more the quality of the hide, the grain and cut and treatment. Are they reinforced in the critical areas ie shoulders/elbows/ass/thighs etc? Thats where the extra layers are needed, cos that's normally your contact points are when you land back on earth so to speak. (speaking from a position of much experience in this area), and when you slide 1.xx mm aint much before your own layer is exposed to the blacktop.

Not saying that £200 cannot buy a decent set of leathers, but cost has a factor in the quality you get to a point. Just work back from £200 to see what you have started with after VAT/TAX/Advertising/Shipping/profit etc etc, Now can someone really make you a set of quality leathers with CE armour etc, for £40 or so? inc materials and labour, because tha'ts roughly where you are starting from.

Me thinks not, but I have not seen them in the flesh to make a correct judgement, just a gut feeling that they are potentially not going to give to much protection if you trip up in the pub on Friday night.
