Well Dan and Si have done two brilliant bike evolution threads it so I am going to have a go :) also the bike is a year old next month so would be a good way to keep track of the changes.

After a lot of time test riding the normal crop of 1000’s R1, ZX-10R, GSX-R, RSV4 and even a CB1000R and a KTM Superduke, I decided it was time to let go of the 1999 R1 I had loved for years and make the move to the 2010 HRC CBR100RR it was a close thing between the blade and the RSV4 but 0% finance on the blade and better road manners meant the blade won hands down in the end.

Here is the outgoing bike my 1999 R1, which went to a very happy private buyer

Then I Bought the blade on the 21/05/11 from Branson’s in Yeovil

It came with HRC hugger and tail tidy, R+G bobbins, tail tidy and engine case sliders and an Akrapovic Carbon slip-on exhaust which I would get fitted at the first service. I also bought some levers in black of Ebay and fitted them as I had the same Pazzo copies on the R1 and loved them.

After two weeks the bike hit 600 miles so in for the first service at Branson’s who fitted the Akrapovic exhaust along with a R+G radiator guard and HRC tank protector.

I did not like the HRC hugger so that came off and the OE small black ABS hugger went back on, which I think opens up the backend more at the same time the rear pegs came off the bike which again looks a lot better.

Next was the Honda High screen and R+G front fork protectors bought from Ebay

Then booked the bike its first trackday at Cadwell Park with a couple of mates so as the rear tyre was toast at 800 miles and the front left me with no confidence at all I fitted some Metzler Interact K3’s rear 55 profile and they are simply stunning J I also bought a GI Pro Gear Indicator in blue as I was used to having the Acumen on the R1 but this one is so simple to fit and no splicing required J

Then seeing as it was my birthday I thought I would treat myself to a Dynojet PCV and O2 eliminator which got fitted to the bike, I had problems with the first unit, cutting out the engine and poor running at Cadwell and it eventually failed leaving me stuck on the side of the road, however DJ UK were very good and replaced it with a new one very quickly and it has been brilliant ever since.

Then I fitted a Talon rear sprocket 44 instead of the 42 std, which because of the 55 rear profile means there is no need for a speedo healer J

Then I was lucky enough to get hold of one of the amazing and rare ColinBR Chain Guards in black, which look stunning !!!!!!!!

Arthur twisted my arm and I had to buy a HM Plus SH Quickshifter, which is still my favourite bit of kit on the bike its so smooth and so much fun, I love it.

Then I got a bargain on Ebay, some SFS Silicone hoses in red so installed these along with the Pipercross air filter ready for its Custom Map at Somerton Motorcycle engineering where the bike made 169 RWHP.

Then Stu at Cox Honda sorted me out a HRC quick action throttle kit and Branson’s got me an E Comfort seat so fitted them.

Next I bought some HEL brake lines in the group buy from Jonny Arnett of Bikebits NI and got some pre load adjusters from Pro Bolt, I also got the wheels stripped off and sent off for a white powder coat, when I got them back Stu at Cox Honda got me some Honda Racing wheel tape in red to fit. I think the wheels look so much better in white I am so glad I got it done now J

Then came the Leo Vince carbon infill panel

Then there was a good deal on Brembo pads from Hein Gericke so they went on the bike along with the Gilles VCR rearsets from Calsport.

Then after Stevebetts fitted his rear peg brackets I decided to get some as well

Then I have fitted the Gilles Gearbox Shaft Support from Calsport to support the shaft due to the new angle of the gear change rod with the VCR rearsets fitted

Finally for now I just got a very sexy Brembo 19 RCS master cylinder with folding lever and reservoir kit from CapriMoto to fit which looks fantastic.

So more pics to follow once they are fitted sorry lol.

Definitely one of my faves on here, the white wheels are niiiice, and suit the bike way better than gold in my opinion. Out of interest, how was the R1 in comparison??

The R1 was fantastic, not as fast in a straight line as the blade, that's the one thing I really noticed on the trackday, but to be honest for a bike which is 11 years behind in development handling wise with the ohlins and ktec it was not far off the blade, not quite as sharp but still very very good IMO, also the blade feels smaller and lighter but again its not night and day, however, the R1 had a lot of mods and they helped it keep up if it was std it would have been a different story :)

Oh and to add the Dymag magnesium wheels tranformed the bike completely so that made it so much better to ride !
