Got back an hour ago after an epic ride. Been waiting all day for the weather to clear as I got a pass all weekend with the missus being away visiting friends (time to be on first name terms with the petrol pump attendants). Found a break in the weather this afternoon and have been meaning to try out the Cat ad Fiddle run (Derbyshire/Cheshire A537 for those who don't know it). So I headed for Chesterfield this afternoon to start the run across the Pennines at the A619 and follow the A6 through Buxton and the A537 Cat and Fiddle to Macclesfield. Started my return journey when the heavens opened up by heading up towards Stockport and then back via the A6 and A623. It dried up again, but I really got to try these PR4's out properly in the wet & dry. 2 tanks of fuel later I arrived back home with a filthy bike but a big smile. So next time someone asks where to go on the next group ride, be prepared to make it an all day'er as I'm knackered now
Great photos Muff and glad you had a good day out . I take it the PR 4s got nice and hot even in the wet?. I used to go to the Cat and Fiddle sometimes in November after tea and it was that crap the pub used to be closed and we used to knock on the door and the dude would open up for us for coffee pool and kit kats we had to park the bikes around the side of the pub due to the strength of the wind in case the bikes blew over. Can't say I really liked " The Cat" even on dry nights due to the constant pressure from cops.
Done a lot of that circuit but never made it to the C&F, maybe soon though. Looks like a good day out for you
Yeah Giv, they definitely get nice and warm even in the wet. The best thing was that they showed no signs of aqua planing even where the roads were flooded. Re the cameras, there was just 4 sets of average speed cameras where the A537 is a 50 limit, but i stopped between cameras for a bite to eat which meant no 50 limit in that section for me
Cracking ride nice write up too. Love Derbyshire being a Chesterfiled lad born n bread Just seeing this turn into ........ What's not to Love!
Hanha, i was looking out for that bend having seen this vid before. I didnt recognise it in the end, but there was a couple that tighten up as you go round so i was probably quite cautious.
A great road spoiled by its popularity and nob heads filming timed laps then posting them on you tube......that an its far share of crashes any wonder the police have got there eye on it.
