Hi All, got my eye on one of these - Kawasaki GPZ500S. Seen one going cheap (<£500) and thought i might convert it into a track day bike. All the reviews seem to mention how well it handles well and engine build/reliability is good. Seems to me to be the ideal project bike to convert to track bike for a track day beginner. Don't need oodles of power (yet). So two questions: 1) Anyone had experience of this bike - good/bad/avoid/great/what to look out for..... 2) IS there a better bike that is cheap and plentiful that I should be looking at? CBR600F? PS - i'm a track day virgin. Hoping to do Ron Haslam later this year.
Mate had one and it was as flat as a fart, certainly not a track going bike. Better off with a 400 sports bike. Paid £750 for my first dedicated trackbike so not crazy money
You'd be lucky to pull the skin off a rice pudding with it! Would be like doing touring car racing in a mobility scooter
Don't listen to the blade snobs!!! Plenty folk having a blast on 'mobility scooters' Look out for a track ready cb500 instead mate, but full package with spares and the loons that race em means it's a bit more 'mainstream'
