I have ridden the CB1000R and its very nice indeed, i am about to ride the Z1000. The 2013 Z1000 is currently being sold new for £7700 on the road ! The CB1000R i am talking about would be used with about 1,000 miles on the clock. It would be used to go to and from work (on the nice days). Anybody own a Z1000 and care to comment ?
i have three two new and one for test (like have 2 cb aswell 1 is for test) cb is more easy z have a lot more juice
My Brother in Law and one of my mates both have Z1000SX's if that's the model you mean? If so they are ACE bikes, very comfy, ride em all day, very good in the twisties and can more than keep up with my Blade on the road, without getting silly and dangerous that is! You can buy hard luggage kits for em too.
My vote is for the Z1000 also, you will also have a bit more wind protection from it compared to the CB1000 and they look a lot better when your stood next to them than the picture does it justice
It not the SX i am looking at its the naked Z one, i think its basically the same bike but with a fairing on the SX, I just want to go back to a naked bike.
I've been riding a 62 plate one over the m62 from Leeds to Cheshire and back today and yesterday Hudson. Is that same as the 13 model? Impressed with the engine, good torque, no flat spots, really responsive, not so impressed with the aching arms and neck, but that's what you get with a naked and most people wouldn't use one to do a 100 mile m-way commute. Didn't think much of the fuel economy, last block on the gauge was flashing after 90 miles yesterday, granted I was pressing on a bit on the way home but still, that's Ducati consumption! I reckon it'd be a hoot on some twisties, unfortunately I only had a brief run from Oldham to Huddersfield this afternoon via Denshaw, but it was a bit busy and still damp from this mornings downpour. Not tried the cb yet, it's a strong possible for my next bike anyway though, although the whispers of a Beemer S1000F are growing and might need some investigation.
Some reviews i have read on the Z say the gearing is too short and that in top gear on the motorway you are at high revs ???? Did you find you got a vibe's through the bars/pegs etc ? It does appear as there are some good deals on the 2010-2013 bikes now the new on is out.
I did find myself looking for 7th quite regularly Hudson. Not really vibey on the bars, but could have done with less through the pegs. The revs are probably around 7500 cruising at motorway speed, compared to the blade it's high.
That is what one of the reviews said but i thought i had misheard it !! That is a high RPM for 70mph, is that in top gear ? I could be doing that speed on my 954 blade and it was nowhere near that.
My cousin Baz has just sold his zed on a 12 plate. He used it for commuting.21k miles. He loved it to start with, great to ride good brakes and looked the part. Some bad bits, The bike does not like salt, be warned! He used to jet wash it at the weekends and give it a good clean ready for the next week. The rear swinging arm was in a bad way before he eventually sold it.He got it powder coated so it looked as new.Alot viewed it but was put off with the rustyg bits on it.The paint was very thin.Of all the new bikes he has had that zed deteriorated far quicker than the Suzuki bandits he had for years. He has just got himself another s/h bandit. If you buy one be aware of the thin paint.
i have a zx6 at the moment coated in acf-50 and its fine the bloke at a bike showroom near me has a z1000 and he uses something similer to protect it and his looks lovely both bikes are used every day salt snow rain
