Hi all I have just taken the cat of my 2005 cbr1000rr and now it’s lacking power in the low revs I have heard the ecu can sort it self out after a few rides is this true ?? Or will I need too get a power commander fitted any knowledge would be very appreciated
Hi mickey, Removing the cat can increase power but only in high revs due to better gaz flow In low rev you loose some backpressure, so less torque... I'm pretty sure you will need a power commander because it is a big modification of your exhaust your ECU can't manage itself.
Thanks for your response m8 any idea which power commander I would need or will a plug and play be ok
You can get the Power Commander 5 Then you can remap the bike on a bench at your local dealer or you can buy the Autotune module which comes in place of your lambda sensor. It will read exhaust gaz in real time and remap the bike automatically but this solution is less accurate
You might find that some Honda dealers won't touch a bike with a Power commander. Have one on my RR4 and my local dealer would not even attempt to adjust fuelling. Whether due to lack of knowledge or equipment I couldn't find out. Had to go to an authorised dyno centre. I hope you have better luck.
