As title I brought a held jacket for its sort of grey/black Matt leather look but I have cleaned it with storm leather cleaner and now brought the trousers to match and I can now see I have totally ruined that look that made me buy the jacket Is there any good Matt leather cleaners you guys and dolls use
Sell it someone who wants a shiny jacket. Then buy another....and leave this one alone as you obviously don't know what you're doing
I've used Leather genie, but think it's a waste of time and effort, so now I just use good old fairy liquid with warm water and just use the Leather genie balm afterwards. Chin
Had my leathers just over 7 years, not cleaned them once. Think the dead bugs officially qualify as CE rated armour now they’ve started fossilising.
Nikwax leather cleaner https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/mo...TfW5_brJnj8Kdx-bBIv-yx61JK0bQIq0aAnLQEALw_wcB Wipe down the leather with a wet microfibre cloth first, spray cleaner on, use a nail brush to scrub, wipe off with wet microfibre towel (resoaking and wringing the towel frequently). then condition with this stuff https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/mo...5o2iDrs9Mppf8YJ1ZCAqYXlzSCAr9WJ8aAna0EALw_wcB which leaves a big shine to the leather, so probably not what you want. I’d suggest that any kind of conditioner for leather whether it be balm, oil, spray will make the leather shiny though due to the nature of ingredients and intended purpose. Better then letting the leather dry out and crack. All my leathers have a natural shine to it, so not sure what it would like on Matt leather.
Just looking to clean my leathers for the winter and found this thread. Planning on using water and microfibre and was looking for something to feed the leather, other than the flies. Saw the bit about horsey people and asked the Mrs (did horsey things before I met her). Got in to too much detail about saddle soap. Anyway she said why not car cleaning stuff, which she has plenty (yes she cleans her own car and even clays it!) Thinking about giving the care balm a try. Not sure on the cleaner
Auto Glym is a decent make so you can't really go wrong there. I use a different brand of horsey stuff, it's done well on my oldest one piece over 10 years. Got some glycerine in it by the looks of the label.
Dainese leather cleaning pack 18 quid for 2 large bottles and sponge and cloth one cleaner 2nd protector...great stuff.
I use the Auto Glym cleaner after using meguairs leather cleaner came up all shiny which I didn’t like so I done some searching and found Auto Glym doesn’t shine
Certainly clean off the bugs but they don't feed the leather. My old gear started to crease and crack but some TLC brought it back to life and made it smell leathery again.
Yes, I agree - I’d typically clean my leathers when needed with the baby wipes and then use a leather feed once a year.
If you want to wash it, then go for something like Hey-Sport Kombi Wash. Fill the bath with warm water and chuck it in. When it's dry, use the Autoglym balm. For the white bits and any stubborn marks use saddle soap.
I’ve always just used baby wipes to clean my leathers, but when I got them out ready for this year I treated them (RST Razer jacket & trousers, RST gloves and Sidi boots) with Autoglym Leather Balm. Wiped it on with a microfibre towel. No issue with the pin pricked panels.and just worked it in to the ribbed stretch areas. The leather just drank it in. Gave them two coats and they have come up like new. Best of it as well, they haven’t got a shine, just gone back to the original matt/semi satin finish. Top tip - wear the gloves whilst doing the others and it naturally gets in all the nucks and crannies of the fingers and thumbs
