Need some good advice guys, here goes Need something to clean my leathers which have a lot of white in them, don't want them looking grubby early. My regime consists of cleaning flies & grime off with a slightly damp cloth. And putting some leather restorer on them. Also had some foam leather cleaning spray. However I'm finding some dirt getting into the texture of the leather. Need something to get them really clean like a washing powder commercial lol I'm sure some of you will know of some very good stuff to use ? Advice guys ? Thanks in advance Steve
Try some baby wipes, I've used them for years now, Just do a small test patch and see how they come up.
Baby wipes tend to dry the leather out. You can get leather wipes which are very good but aren't cheap. There's a really good clip on YouTube from a club racer on how he has kept his leathers clean for years. IIRC he simply gets soapy water from a natural soap being rubbed on a brush. He then liberally rubs his leathers with a cloth and plenty if soapy water and when he's finished he tips the whole bucket all over his leathers which are lying on the floor. He then hangs them up to dry. I have to say it does seem to work.
I stood with my leathers on and the wife used a bucket of soapy water, and the sponge I bought for cleaning my visor! worked a treat as I also bough new alpine stars Fluo this year with tons of white.. worked a treat
Steve I've got RST Tractech leathers in white which are mostly white! I use muc off leather wipes which are great they're like baby wipe but condition the leather as well but the only thing is trying getting hold of the wipes halford sold them for a while but stop and now you have to search the net for them but they are definitely worth the effort my leathers are like new.
I use general kitchen surface cleaner like Dettol to clean them up. Removes all the dirt/bug crap really well. The I apply Renupur leather balm to keep them looking good
I had a similar problem with my leathers (also lots of white parts), but after 6 years I've learnt that: a) first soak it well in soappy water, clean the initial dirt with the spoonge, b) clean it with pleanty of water, c) use the baby wipes to get the dirt out from all the cracks in the leather, d) again use water to flush all what is left sticking to the leather, e) let it dry ...finally use some leather conditioners My RC-1 Alpinestars jacket looks 'almost' like new after 6 years and 30.000miles on the road
