I used to buy Dainese (had 3 sets) but zips where crap on all of them, the Dainese gloves (full metal racer) had holes in the palms less than a years use, and the quality was really, really shit. Never again. I mailed Dainese with photos of the substandard stuff, and they didn't give a toss. Now use Arlen Ness, and its ace in comparison.
New se or new set?? I have wolf, which are great value, but nothing and I mean nothing is better than dianese.. My two piece is class!!!
So surprised at that!! My full metal pros lasted five years and about 50k of riding....Including an off And my leathers are better than I've ever known for quality
Jimbo, Maybe its just me, but 3 zips on 3 jackets went, the zip on a pair of pele Dainese leather bottoms went after 5 mths, and tab broken, stitching on the jacket went (on the arms, the zip housing, and the perforated liner fell to bits), Another Dainese 2 piece, the jacket stitching came undone and zip broke. I never track day, and wonder how shit they would hold up in a crash if i was to go down the road? The gloves and the quality where diabolical, after less than 1 year too! Never again. I was so pissed off at the price, and the shit quality, i gave them to a retailer to display on the quality of Dainese in his shop. No-one buys Dainese there as the true quality is on show. I don't think 3 jackets (2 piece) a pair of Delta pele, and full metal racer are one off quality issues.
How strange, had an off in mine and still use (seven years and still brand new bar scuffs) it all apart from gloves which gave in after five years... As I say, nothing has come close, my sp gloves are miles off the quality and the wolf one piece is great, but I I had the money when I bought them, would have been the dianese all day....
The right hand was going too mate. For the record, it's not the first time its happened with them either. Quality issues on the zips and stitching on Dainese stuff on the net is well documented. I wish i had read up on it before i shelled out my hard earned, as it aint cheap!
I must be oblivious to it... As I've never had more comfortable stuff or had anything wrong with it which would want me to research quality issues. I'd always put my cock on the block and say their stuff is second to none... Think twice now though!
I've had lots of Dainese and so far not had any issues at all, still got the racing pelle jacket, two pairs of the piston gloves and the zip in leather pants. Saying that I wear my Alpinestars RC1 suit mostly as I love the fit especially as I'm tall, takes the bionic hard chest armour too. No point in ever buying leathers til you've tried them on though, they all fit different
Hmmm, Si's tales of woe is a bit worrying. I've got Dianese and do love it. The fit and the styling. But in fairness it doesn't get a huge amount of wear and I'm a bit OCD about cleaning and oiling it but it does look mint after three years. I shall be keeping a closer eye on the stitching and fixings from now on.
I would alway recommend Alpine star, a little pricey but I have had my two piece for six years and they still look like new, when I clean off the flys.
I have a Wolf two piece and it gets a lot of use and still looks really good after six years, well it does when the flies are off of it.
Crowtree!!! The best bar none!! Made to measure, tripled stitched everything and any design you want, had mine for bout 7 years and still fit like a glove, better than any off the peg suit and at about the same price!
I have had Alpinestars SP1 one piece - they were great. Now have Dianese trickster two piece. Had them for about a year and find them great. Quality and fit is really good. I purchased some Alpinestars GP Pro gloves about six month ago and they are terrible. Palm is wearing really bad on both hands. Wouldn't buy them again.
Aaaaah, crowtree, awesome kit, but unfortunately they are not taking on new customers anymore. my local firm aswell.
