Both my LED indicators were working fine, but one required changing as it was cracked. I also have a rear cluster with indicators built in, but i don't use this currently as its an MOT fail. All I have done is made a positive Y-split from each left and right indicators looms. In order to incorporate both the indicators and the built indicators within the rear cluster. I had it working with the old indicators, then all of a sudden it stopped All i have is a solid amber light, no flashing. I checked the fuses. 2 of the 10A fuses were blown, I've replaced them.....Still a solid amber. The bike starts and works fine. Does anyone have any ideas on what the F@$# is wrong? Regards RedBull
Relay would be my guess too. Does the relay click when the indicators are turned on? I take it the lights are only solid amber when each side is turned on and not all the time?
The majority of indicator relays rely on a load (wattage = amps) to make the flash rate, ie, front and rear lamps = 2 x 21watts. If you use LED indicators without a load resistor added, then the relay will not function. Also if you happen to connect the LEDS the wrong polarity, you create a short circuit (fuse blows). So, either buy a solid state relay which will operate LEDs or add resistors to get a normal relay to operate (wattage rating is critical or it gets too hot).
The relay doesn't click when the indicators are turned on. And yes they are only solid when they are switched on.
My previous indicators were LED and worked fine. The problem occurred prior to fitting the new LED indicators. I had both my old indicators flashing and the built-in indicators within the rear cluster. I was figuring out which wires were going to go where. Then all of a sudden it stopped. I checked the fuses on the front left fairing - 2 of the 10A had blown. I've replaced them. But I'm still getting no flash
Yep, as said, sounds like the relay has damaged, if you know someone with another blade then swop it out before buying a new one.
