Right i brought this to cover up the ugly s shape pipe that is connected to my akrapovic stubby exhaust. I cant see how this cover is going to fit? anyone else fitted one? you have 3 fixing points top fixing is easy short straight bit of bar, 2nd an exhaust bracket that goes right on the bend so bolt isnt long enough to clamp bracket up? unless i have this fitted wrong, 3rd fixing is a longer strip of metal i can not see a fixing point on the bike? instruction all there is is a list of things you should have in the bag. HELP
Gary, its not just me then! Front most Bracket: Simples, undo the rear most bolt the bottom of the fairing and look up and you will see the bracket fits onto the bottom of the engine. Centre bracket 1: Simples as you say Rear most bracket on the exhaust: : Like you, this one is doing my head in. Seem to me that the pipe is to wide for the bracket to go round and the bolt wont go back in. It’s doing my head in. Have a look at the following post, “What did you do to your bike today thread”, post # 407 on page 51. Is your link pipe the same as mine with the bulbous section? Bats pipe is different and I am starting to wonder if it just won’t fit mine? I even thought the bracket was bent in the post and re shaped it to fit further up the link pipe but still the bsatrad won’t fit. Not that I have much hair but what I have is being pulled out trying to sort what should have been a simple job.
WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO fitted easy once you see these pics, it looks the tits fitted just hope it stays on 200 mile rideout 2mo will test it out.
What the! How did you get the rear exhaust bracket done up? as you can see mine is to far forward but even further back the bolt wont go back in. Is your link pipe the same as mine Gary? Can you take some photos and show this dim wit how it’s done. Thank you in advance.
i done the other 2 fixings up 1st then moved the exhaust bracket to the correct place 10 minute job once i new what i was doing, in your pic it does look like the exhaust is fatter?? i had to put the bracket on under the bike screwed it on by say 2 threads then sliped it around to the correct place.
No freedom my exhaust doesnt have the s-link but i have the leo vince pannel. let me know if you still want to see some pics as they might help just not for the bracket on the exhaust have you tried the exhaust bracket the other way round as it could be upside down
Thanks Fez. I am starting to think its not going to fit unless I can get a bracket made up for me. Good idea but nope its not the wrong way round, the other way the bit you bolt to the cover is facing the wrong way. I will have another go this weekend and see what happens but pretty convinced it’s a non starter. Strange the link pipe is difference might have a word with Marshall who supplied the bike and pipe. Shame I would really like to not have to look at the pipe work.
I think we might be getting crossed wires here as i dont have a akro can but was just trying to help out with the fittings for the pannel. which bracket is giving you the problem and what are you wanting to do with it ? Just looked at the post on page 51 and that link pipe is totally different to yours so thats a bit strange. You say with it being upside down it doesnt line up but its only thin metal so could easily be bent to make it fit
Thanks Fella's The bikes a 2011 abs. Exhaust part no: S-H10So8t-HTC (taken from box) Link pipe part no: L-H10C04C EI*0722*(5) Can part no: M-HT008 It’s the bracket that fits on the exhaust that is giving me the arse ache, its just not quite big enough to go round the pipe and then get the bolt back in, I suppose I could get the brummie screwdriver out and give it few knocks to flatten the side of the pipe a bit but trying to avoid doing that or all the obvious reasons. Its defo the right way round on the pipe as per the fitting instructions.
i couldnt do the clip up either but put it a bit lower on a slightly flater bit of the link pipe then when i got a bite on the thread i pushed it on the curved bit.
as i cant see the bolt in these pictures this might just be another stupid suggestion but cant you just get a longer bolt ??
Nope, thought about that but the bolt is hitting the pipe before it gets that far, I was having a good look at the bracket last night and its not completely round more slightly squashed so that could be the problem. Going to have another go at it this weekend sometime, but as L wants the field cut so it could be tractor time today and off to Rockingham track day tomorrow.
Halleluiah. At last the bracket is on, I am sure it shouldn’t have been that hard. I re rounded the bracket using a steel pipe and hammer. Re fitted the bracket on the pipe bolt then went past the pipe but not into the female screw hole. Used a G clamp and tightened it as much as I could. Removed the clamp and forced the bolt in so I could get a turn on it. Brilliant I thought jobs a good un. To match up with the carbon cover I had to move it much further forward on the link pipe than the photos of others. I must have a different link pipe. But it’s on and the horrible pipe is now covered up. Think I deserve a beer now! Thanks to everyone who helped on this issue, roll on a ride over to Rockingham tomorrow.
Thanks Fez, moral support was all that was needed mate. I think I have scratched all the skin off my chin and my arse trying to sort this one out. Don’t normally make such a meal of something so simple. Looks at treat and glad I persevered with it. Enjoy the sunshine tomorrow.
