I'm more than likely going to be ordering myself a set of the extra lightened Dymag UltraPro 7's in a couple of weeks, but being i'm going to be spending over £1100 to get lighter wheels got me to thinking how much difference in weight is there from one brand of tyres to another brand. As most of the weight saving could be put straight back on if say for instance a rosso corsa weigh's over half a kilo more than a sport smart. What are your thought's experiences on this subject?
Yes! However most performance road/race/track tyres are very light but the Pures are defo one of the lightest around they were lighter than a pair of BSB's when I checked them but can not remember the figures now they are all they say and for the road mate I have had no problems. http://www.michelinpowerpure.com/en/
I have Pilot Pures on the Dymags now but i aint done much milage on them as they where from the previous owner They are very light thou
another vote for power pures had them on the gixer sixer scrub in very fast and really made it handle alot better most likley whats going on my blade next dads fav tyre of all time the pure
I ran them first time on my z1000 but fitted them in the crap weather feb last year....may have been the year before but anyway I thought they were naff at the time but gave them more time and once got into it I would say they are spot on now, also fitted them to my blade following the whole weight loss thing and last summer they were a blast! I flippin love them now even over my favs BSB/SP's..
Power pures are the lightest on the market, must admit the Metzler interact tyres weigh a ton, did not realise until I had the wheels stripped for coating, amazed how light the std wheels are as well, so the dymags must be like feathers Cant wait to see them fitted if you do get them
Hi Andrew, Strangely enough I m doing exactly the same thing and have exactly the same concerns as yourself. I have ordered my extra lightweight UP7's from Larry @ PDQ and like you now need to select a tyre. I have read all the hype about the Power Pure being the lightest tyre out there but as of yet can find zero evidence to back up the claims unfortunately. I have emailed Michelin twice and although I have received some lovely flyers they still fail to provide any facts or figures to back up their claims which IMO is rather annoying and cause's me some doubts on how true these claims actually are. If I find out any figures I will post them up on here, but don't hold your breath mate as even Michelin seems stumped to back up their product.
Like I said mate they are lighter than the same size P... BSB as I had them on the scales! BSBs are quite a light tyre imo when you feel the likes of the b stones!
Thats the problem Arthur mate, everyone says there lighter but try and get some actual figures and your banging your head against a wall. Not even the people who make them and throw all the marketing data in the world around on the subject of how much lighter they are than the competiton can provide you with a weight comparison strangely enough.
I know what you mean mate, it was not a lot but they were lighter .5Kg each or so if I remember right (was over a year ago) as the weight is at the outer most part of the wheel you stand to gain a lot.. They do say:- MICHELIN Power Pure is revolutionary on more than one account: to begin with, it marks the introduction of the latest-generation MICHELIN 2CT dual-compound technology. But its main new feature is MICHELIN LTT (Light Tire Technology).
