sorry for yet another tyre thread but I've been googling for an hour with no definite answers.

I just put a set of pilot road 3's on the bike for the new season due to the mileage I'll be doing this year. I did consider the power 3's but wanted a bit of longevity.

The problem is, I've just had a spur of the moment look at no limits and now me & the mrs are booked into Rockingham in July. We're running in the novice group as it's our first trackday in 3 years.

Based on my road experience, the PR3's are really good for grip, however I'm a little concerned about how they will cope at the higher temps on track. Does anyone have any experience or advice regarding pressures/ wear/ possible slip/ things to look out for with these tyres on track?

P.S - I do realise I won't be pushing things to any limits being in the novice group & I will be taking it easy since its been a while but I like to be prepared for any eventuality

    cheers all

You'll be fine on the PR3's mate.

We used them on our track bike at Cadwell back in June or July.

We stuck them on in the morning as the track was a little damp in places. After the first 2 sessions it was dry.

At lunch we were going to change them out to the new Metzeller Racetech RR's, but decided to just stick with the PR's.

At no point did they let up on grip and I was pushing as much as I ever have.

Pressure wise I'm sure we were running 32Psi front and 30Psi rear. This was with tyre warmers.

Cheers Colin. That's all I needed to hear. I knew it would make a good wet tyre but I'm hoping I won't be testing that
