Nice find Si. 55 Broadway 1934: As it is today: I had a lunch meeting in the Feathers the other side of the road from 55 Broadway last Thursday. It’s no longer the head office of Transport for London but is still the head office for the London Underground. I can’t remember when they moved but I do remember going there at the start of my career, they then moved to 152 Buckingham Place Road before moving to the present location, Palestra in Blackfriars Road 3 years ago: Palestra: The 360 panoramic views over the city from the top floors are incredible. I can take some photo’s next time I am there if anyone is interested?
Oddly enough, 55 Broadway was the subject of a documentary on BBC3 the other night on Art Deco icons. I was lying on the recliner watching it, wrapped in a blanky 'cos I'm so ill.
There is an original art deco canteen at one of the London bus driver’s canteens, I think it’s at London United's Fulwell depot, as it happens I was there for a meeting on Wednesday but didn’t go into the canteen. Loving message from L, man up it’s just a cold.....
If only it were... I just ate an entire box of maltesers to try and... Well half a box 'cos my pikey, scrounging, perfectly healthy wife stole the other half... Feel a bit better. What are the symptoms of pneumonic plague...?
You must be ill if you didn’t fight her off, if L goes anywhere my Maltesers its war of the Fens. No idea what the symptoms of pneumonic plague are but when you find out let me know so I can put it on my self assessment sick note next time the sunshine’s and I fancy a few days off work to ride my bike.
