I thought I'd stick this info on here because if you're anything like me you'll have been struggling to get a helmet to fit and there's hardly any definitive info on the subject on UK forums. My head's a definite long oval shape and every helmet I've tried has given me the forehead hot spot. That was until a sales guy at the now-defunct Hein Gericke in Darlington stuck and Arai Viper GT on my head. I knew it was love as soon as it went on The Viper GT was specifically designed for this long oval shaped head. It's known as the Arai Profile in the states. A few years back the Viper GT and the Profile were discontinued and for a while neither the States or ourselves were offered an alternative. That changed for our American cousins when the Arai Signet Q was launched. Unfortunately we didn't get this model but we now have the Quantum ST which, as far as I'm aware is the Euro designation for the Signet Q. I'm aware that most of you know where you're splodging with helmets. This is really just to put it out on the net for other people who are looking for it.
I have both and after 5 years with the viper it's taking a wee while to get used to the quantum st. I certainly wouldn't say they are the same fit. Good helmets they are though. I also had a chaser v which was more like the viper than the quantum.
Cheers for the additional info, mate. From what I'd gleaned the Viper was definitely more long oval than the Quantum ST but thought that the ST was considered to be the next best thing. Arai UK did suggest that I try a Chaser V. Looks like I'm back to square one
Have had 2 Viper GTs and loved them both, especially as the first probably saved my life. Currently have a Shark S900c but after trying one on at the NEC I will probably go with a Schuburth SP1 next (memory fooked but think it's that model), as the fit was even better than the GT
Do lids generally give the dreaded hotspot on your forehead? Most feel like they're resting on the front and back of my noggin and are capable of rocking side to side.
The GTs would bed in really quickly on my forehead. The Schuburth fitted superbly from the off. I did only wear it for about 5 mins but I didn't want to take it off.
