The sky here is quite clear here, just been for a look. What was so special about it, it's looking like a normal moon to me.
There's a ring of ice crystals making a halo about 20 to 30 degrees in diameter around it. I'm getting that old master chief feeling. Must be very localised then Andrew if it's not visible from your place. Very spooky looking.
What goin on Ken? Not a cloud in the sky up here & the moon is exactly where i left it! What am i looking for mate
Looks the same here as last night Ken. A little cloud this evening? but that could be from the BBQ on the beach
I tried to get a picture of it but failed, but it looked like this. We had half the street out looking at it. I'm locking the door now, they've been known to burn gingers around here when they see omens in the sky.
Yeah that's cool Ken altho it's not that uncommon up here especially when below zero mate. What i did see once 1999 spring to mind, was something called rainbow clouds where the ice crystals form inside the clouds and with the sun shining on them it made them multi coloured! Blues, greens, pinks! Our local papers run pics of them explaining why they occur amd how rare it is to see them, it was an awesome sight
Yeah their mostly good old fashioned folk. Medifuckingeval in the most part. Trev, I've only ever seen it a dozen or so times down here and I don't think I've ever seen it as well defined as tonight and im outside quite a bit when it's clear. I'm quite envious of some of the things you can see in the sky at your latitude. I've seen some incredible star fields from Orkney and from the arctic ocean, but to have access to it all year round would be great.
Just wandered into the bed room and Ling is spark out with the quilt pulled back so a perfect full moon, and no it’s not getting photographed and put on members wives
I've been out a couple more times and nothing, it's strange being i'm just down the road in the scheme of things
It may be that I'm right on the estuary, the cold air funnels up it after the suns been out on a cool day. The warm air off the land rises and sucks the cold off the sea, that'll cause the invertion layer. It's gone now, it's to foggy. I shan't get caught with the tripod in the loft again though.
ken just got in from a night round town drunk again! am on it, right so am looking for the moon yeah?
