    Hi guys,

I am new so be gentle :), I am looking to buy a 2004 blade but it has very minor damage caused by dropping it on its side (not moving at the time), the fairing where the indicator sits has a 1 inch crack and the tail piece is a little cracked and needs touched up, the bike is cheap at 3k and I have been told by the dealer it is in fantastic condition apart from only this. My question is do I go for it? I have been looking at a ZX12 for the same price and also a ZX6rr. Previous bikes have been CBR600F, Yamaha Thunderace, ZX9r and my last one a CBR600F Sport which I loved, any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers.

You will not get a better bike for that money! I have an RR5, same bike really and its a fantastic bike. Buy it an keep you eye on ebay for second had fairing pieces. you will get the right colour if you wait and I would not expect both parts to come in for less than £100

    Thanks Carl,
I think I will go and pay the deposit tomorrow and await delivery (its coming from Leeds) the only other thing is it has not not been serviced since 8000 miles and it now has 31,000 but the guy says that the previous owner done it himself. I will just go for it I think, fantastic bike. Cheers buddy.

Hi Guys, After talking to the dealer and not managing to travel the 300 miles to see it I decided not to buy, it had only had a couple of services done to it and the last one was at 8000 miles in 07! I think I done the right thing not to buy. I have bought a ZX7RR, I know what you all might say but it's a lovely bike and riding one is great.

I thought I would buy the kawasaki for now and buy a newer blade in a couple of years when I can afford a decent one.

Shall i Ban him ?? ha ha

No good move mate . I wouldn't be happy with a bike with that kinda milage that was last serviced in 2007 . He may say its self serviced but actually how often ? and if he is to tight for dealer services then what quality oil did he use ??

Have some fun on the ZX7 and get a nice 08 to 11 in a couple of years .

Ill remove your Ban then !! lol

Depends how you look at it.

Its a bike that has been used. What its supposed to be for. Its not high, Just all the low millage bikes out there make bikes like this look artificially high millage, One of my mates has 50k on an rr4 blade and another has 86k on a 2002 cbr600f

What IS the industry 'standard' average mileage these days? I know cars USED to be 12k, 15k now? Bikes were @ 6k ?

That is true. Most bikes if properly serviced will rack up big miles. But for a toy you will be pushing to the limits, I would go for something with less wear every time, that ride as intended.

Good choice to walk away, enjoy the zx

I agree totally . My dads BMW has 80k and is going as strong as ever but when we tried to sell it last year there was bikes of the same age asking the same price and they only had 10k so if your a buyer which 1 do you get ??
