Guys, I've been lurking around for a bit. At the moment, and until August, I won't be insuring a blade (personal reasons). Question for those of you that's owned both. If the price difference wasn't a consideration, would you go for a 06/07 model or a 2010 model and why? Also, noticed both black and silver models seem to be difficult to move on..... Any particular reason? Or just my misconception?
06/07's are the sexiest blades ever made, and more than capable of eating just about anything in the right hands with a few upgrades...
I prefer the look of the 06/07 but if I was buying then my sensible head says that I would get a newer one.
Both are great bikes, but the '08 onwards are double the money and it's worth asking yourself the question if it's worth it, as the 06/07 is still just as capable and parts are as easy to get for most years.
Said it before and will say it again......unless you are a giraffe, then the 10 plate bike is better than an 06. Then again, the 14 model year is better again, that's progress for you. Quick edit: The above is based on a non ABS model.
Exactly as others have said........ An 06/07 is a fantastic bike, but time and progression mean that a 2010 model is a better all round bike. If money is not the governing factor ...... Then go for the bike that YOU like best. If money is a governing factor due to the amount you have...... Then the 06/07 is more than you'll ever need on the road. If money isn't a governing factor coz you have lots...... Then the 2010 is better due to progress, it's just what shape you prefer.
Cheers guys, there's an 07 silver blade with 1400 miles on the clock in the same town as me meaning it's no hassle to buying it and getting it to my house. Two problems I have are a) it's silver and I don't really like silver and b) he's asking £5500, which if I wait till august-sept puts it in 2010 territory! It will be my first blade so don't want to make a mistake, I want a low mileage one that I can keep for a weekend toy.
5k gets you a clean 2008 blade in Pearl Sunbeam white (best colour I think as only pearl / metallic finish that year) Avoid burgundy at all costs (honda could not shift them so painted 100 yellow to make brogie replicas as far as I know) The 2007 is good, but honestly don't fear the mileage - if you can trust the owner has looked after the bike and the condition is good don't let it put you off, other than wear and tear items they can take a huge mileage, look at it this was a 1.0 litre car weighs about a ton before you add say 400kg of passengers and luggage , a blade about 200k plus 100kg for rider, the engine is not stressed the same way. Both are cracking bikes but remember the 2007 bike was released in 2004 with an update in 2006. The 2008 bike is 100% new
Cheers guys, appreciate all the advice. Last October,I was watching a guy try to sell an 06 silver one on auto trader with 5k on the clock and he couldn't shift it, got down to £3600. Put me off silver
