Just thought I would get feedback on what some of you lot are getting out of a rear Tyre and what make/model they are? I have BT015's on my Blade. come with them from new. My rear is shot after 1600 miles. Do the wear bar in the center. OK they may have just over 75% of the rest of the tread left but as I have some ractec scrubs so want a change I've tried BT014's and Bt016's on my triple and fazer over the years and very lucky to get over 2k from a rear. I shot the front 016 after 2.5 k on the edge. Still some life left on the center??? SO not impressed by Bridgestones. But tried 2CT's and after 2k the rear on my Triple sill had lots of meat left So what's you worse? Talking more road miles than track day. As many on here do more miles on the road then track. I say Most
i was getting 3000 / 3500 from a rear 2CT on a cbr600rr7.... dunlop qualifier on the blade was illegal at 1200 but have heard of boys changing them at 800. Years ago on a cbr600f i was getting 4000 from continental road attack's but i was motorway riding them till they was square lol
Anything after 1000 miles im keeping an eye on it. I changed my corsa III after about 1200 miles I think. I think sticky tyres on a blade last not much more 1500 and they need changing IMO. Suppose it depends how hard to use it though. As soon as it loses it's profile or squares off I bin it.
I have battleaxe's on my road bike got 2 trackdays (Anglesey and Cadwell) and about 1000 on the road. Got some supercorsa's on order fit them this week. Life for tyre's all depends on how you ride to how long they live. Harder you ride shorter the life. Also 2 up can kill a rear pdq.
Around 4k for rear, 6k front for BT015/016, 1800 for Pirelli Corsa on rear. Pirelli's took too long to warm in winter and started losing chunks off the edges of the tread.
I find the pirellis great all round. They warm up pretty quick IMO and are decent in the wet too. I really can't fault them on the road at all. They don't like shell grip though or rough surfaces I did the Yorkshire TT to Helmsley which has alot of shell grip and my tyre was torn to shreds.'literally ripping the tread off on the shoulder where I was powering out of corners. On Tarmac they seem to last well enough though.
Tried a set of the new Bridgestone R10R's and got 541 miles out of the rear LOL Now I've put a set of Pirelli Angel's on to see if I can get the rest of the year out of them.
They're meant to be great on the track though, but have the typical Bridgestone traits of letting go with no warning unlike the Pirelli's and Dunlop's that do. It was an awesome 500 odd miles.
What did you think of the R010 was thinking of trying them for track use. Otherwise will go for Dunlop 211 GP racers. On my Ducati 1098R used to go through a set of Pirelli Supercorsa every trackday which probably equates to around 120miles per set of tyres.
I change a rear every track day and sell my scrubs on at tracks like donny and silverstone as they're very abrasive. Not so much at cadwell and croft etc as they're not as abrasive. When I started usin the dunlops I found they last alot better than the pirelli. The diablo supercorsa really drops off after a couple of sessions and are known for not lasting long I would 100% recommend the dunlop NTECs. You will have to adjust your suspension to suit but they're moles ahead of anything pirelli or metzeler do. I don't know anyone who uses them bridgestones either and looking at the info they don't seem to do many compounds.
Standard BT015 rear has started wearing rapidly lately started squaring off and close to the wear indicators this dry weather has tempted me into using alot more throttle. Trying to go around the twisty roads more but its hard to not square it off road riding. Its at about 1600 miles think I might get to 1800. Would of been less if I had not got it in the winter as using less throttle then.
Try the Metzeler Racetec interacts mate. Get K2 front and rear and you'll notice the difference in wear. Supercorsa tread doesn't help the wear, but they do also wear quicker than the Metz. 31 front and 27 rear on track pressures (ie. not cold pressures). They ride and feel identical to supercorsas, but with increased wear.
Put pirelli rosso 2s on the blade 1700 miles and a trackday rear has loads left in it, confident that it will last with going out every saturday(if dry) and a Scotland trip 22/6/12 about 1300 miles. The bridgestone s20 is the tyre to try from all reports. Worst i have had 1200 miles pirelli corsa on my superduke R
Blimey. At what point are some of these tyres considered finished? Race tyres won't last on the road (or work very well in some cases) & doing the occasional trackday doesn't warrant buying the latest stickies imo. My Diablo Corsa 3's are looking really good after about 1800 miles, including a short Scotland trip (two up, with luggage). They were going a little flat in the centre but some solo riding is sorting that out. I fully expect to get 3 - 4 K out of the rear; that includes road riding two up, faster solo road riding & a couple of TD's. I must ride like a proper tart!
Had 08 Blade and 05 ZX6R and rarely got more than 1600 miles out of a BT014. It depends what you want from a tyre, if you want them to stick then fine, I'm happy to change every 1600 miles. Most of my riding is fast road with 3-4 track days a year. Recently got 2500 miles from a Michelin 2CT on my 08 Blade - dual compound - very impressed
BUT as I have now found the edge of the grip on the Sportsmarts, I would not be looking for large mileage from the rear if i'm doing more track riding. I have a few mates just getting R10's soon So I and looking for feedback on how they cope on track before I buy
If I don't go for the R10's then the 211 GP racers are next on my list. But 120 miles fromm Supercorsa ? I did 150 miles over the weekend on track. Impressed with the Sportsmarts even with my little issue of my almost highside. 2500 road miles and 3 trackdays and still life in it yet
