Me and JD have been discussing luggage options.

What do you guys use? any decent systems out there which are easy to use and leave bike damage free?

that looks great remal, all i'd worry about is it rubbing on the paint like my tail pack did?

My concern also Remal, did you have to put protective covering on paintwork, and was it fiddly to strap the bag on?

I've always used the Ventura system, very good, but it did look like I was carrying a bungalow on the back lol.

Guy took about 3 mins to fot with straps to the rear pegs and No plate screws. as I said stable for very high speeds ;) and used this:

Motrax Wonderweb | Accessories | Luggage | Motorcycle Shop | Demon Tweeks

paint was not s issue after and I like to keep my toys clean and scratch free so would have not used it if I thought it would scratch my new toy

    worked a treat

plus it won't cost me anything to fit to many other bikes in the future. Ok cost me about £120 but if its good enough for a week to 10 days touring and will fit to any bike I have int he next 10 years it will cost me nothing to re-use year after year. and its a quality bit of kit. not cheap crap

Yeah, used Wonderweb a few years back before I got the Ventura kit. Have to say the Cargobag looks far more ergonomic, and is also much cheaper than getting all new Ventura kit. Thanks Remal.

Just a thought Remal, I got rid of my pillion pegs. Are they needed to strap the bag on?

As long as they are securely tied to the bike it would be fine

No plate screws. Just as extra though I used metal boles to replace the plastic ones. And pillion pegs but as the straps can be fitted to the frame under the seat. Took 5 mins to fit and 1 min to remove

I have had a ventura on a fazer and it was the bollocks! :)
Bought a bags connection on my europian trips this year was really good, fairly stable but did keep moving forward and it slid about a bit, (might have been cause i didnt use the number plate fixings) but looped it around the tail tidy. |Took a few mins to tie down.
For next year I am getting a ventura, expensive but worth it.

Bagster tank cover & tank bag are excellent bits of kit.

    Kriega luggage system for the rear. I've got a US-40 (1x US-20 & 2x US-10), but would have preferred a US-30 & a US-10. Make sure you use wonderweb under them, otherwise they'll rub a bit.

If you've got the monies, go Ventura. OK, doesn't look particularly cool, but I know 2 guys with it & they rave about it.

I use the Bags Connection Cargo bag and can say it is good but does need to be bungeed down to stop it moving around especially over bumpy french twisties. I tape over the whole rear section plastic with 2 inch wide vynl tape, its like insulation tape only thicker, its satin black so doesn't look too bad and does protect the paint and doesn't leave sticky residue - NEVER use duct tape or brown plastic parcel tape, it comes off and leaves sticky a mess (wait for the comments...**!!). I use the wonderweb stuff on the rear seat to stop the bag slipping.
Also got a Bagster tank cover colour matched for my 09 HRC with a small bag which isn't too restrictive.
A mate has the Ventura system on his S1000RR and while it is definately very good, easy on and off it sits very high on the bike. I prefer the lower profile of the Cargo Bag. I've looked at the Kriega stuff and it looks good but you gotta load the bags through the small end of the bag so access to your gear isnt great. The Cargo bag has a nice large opening and the inner waterproof bag really does work, tested thanks to a 6 hour trip across France in the proverbial cats n dogs, (or is it Chat en Chien over there?).
Anyway, unless you travel away and need to carry luggage on a regular basis I think the Cargo bag is ideal, my only minor gripe is it could do with a removable shoulder strap to lug into the hotel, the carry handle is just about ok.

^^ glad it's not just me that is impressed with the cargo bag. When I was touring in France I met a chap with one on a Aprilla Facotry who had used his for years. And again for th emoney and what it carries plus how its very versatile is the main reason I bought it

Have used Oxford panniers and Ventura on mine. Ventura is a lot more convenient. Can be expensive new, but do crop up on ebay. Fitting can be fun if you have changed can.
