I'm looking to buy a 2017-2019 Fireblade and I really like the look of the matte black paint. How durable is it? Is it likely to scratch really easily or go shiny after a few thousand miles?

Is there anything in particular to watch out for when buying this model?

I bought Matt polish which sounds daft but it works. I sometimes wish I could get a shine like I did on the repsol but then again I love the stealth look. It’s something different from the pack. No, as far as I can tell it’s no less strong than the ordinary paint jobs. I haven’t found any faults but then I’m maybe not as picky as some. o_O

My matt black bike has held up really well. The paint is quite tough.

There is a scratch on the bike, from the previous owner. But in the 2.5 years I've had it, nothing new.

Funnily enough @bladey - I also do wish my bike was glossy!! But mine is in good condition, and I don't want to mess with it.

Mate bought one from DGR on here. Finish has held up fine. Only issue I can see is that the paint rubs where panels meet revealing a red undercoat/plastic colour.
