Well i took em off today and stripped fairing for a clean! Its the second time the fairing been off and the first for the nose cone!! Got it down to 1hr 10 mins now to get it like last pic Drop em off with maxton next sunday
I was nervous as hell the first time i done that method of removing the forks . I was worried the headers would not hold the weight Good work Bats
I borrowed a headstock stand but the pin was not right for mine and did not like it so back to the old method haha I FOOKING HATE IT ALSO!!

Bats, hate to be the voice of doom (I want my bouncy bits done too), but if you haven't paid the money yet, speak to my boys at Track Sense 01276 473616. I was going the buy the new Maxton all singing, all dancing shock and a fork cartridge kit & called them to see how much they'd charge to fit it. They do all my tyres & servicing & I value their opinion over a Honda main dealer - they also prep race bikes & run VERY expensive track days at Almeria - so they're not short of experience or money. Although it cost them X amount in fitting and set up, their MD spent 45 mins on the phone talking me out of it. Give them a buzz to find out why.
Hmmm can you not just tell me why they said dont buy? All i no about maxton is good! I am only getting the fork coversion at the mo 400 notes i had it on my last blade and made the biggest diff ever! in a good way!!!!!! My mate who works at dynojet uk told me a story once this guy whoa raced a zx10 he bought ohlins forks and ohlins shock his lap time was 2 secs slower than on stock stuff...then after loads of laps and settings changed it went to 1 sec slower..... Then he binned out the rear shock and had his BRAND new ohlins forks resprug and sorted by maxton with a maxton shock did a lap and was 1 sec faster than his stock stuff! But i would love to know the other firm reason as to not buy maxton and what they recomend no doubt a brand they sell! why do you want a catridge kit for your forks anyway for the road??
Maybe because track sense wanted to sell you something they supplied and had a better mark up on? Im sorry, but im running maxton on my RR7 currently, and although it isnt up to the same standard as Bitubo & top of the range ohlins, its certainly worth the money they charge for it. Its also used by quite a few extremely fast race teams, and has a decent reputation in race & trackday circles, so any reservations track sense have about fitting it must be down to moneytary or personal issues.
I wanted a shock & cartridge kit just for the bling factor - no other reason. They reckoned that just for road use a shock & cartridge kit would be an utter waste of money and it'd naff up the handling, as it'd be too hard to work well with the UK roads & I'd only get any direct benefit if I was spending a lot of time on the track. They also weren't a huge fan of Maxton (but that's probably because they're a K-Tech/Ohlins house). He droned on for about 45 mins, so the above is the distilled synopsis. In short he said if you want it, we'll fit it, but you're wasting your money & risk not liking your handling & that the blades suspension was easily good enough for any and all fast road work. I'm still going to get it done.
Vino, greatest of respect, but they were talking tosh. Ask ANY suspension expert and he will tell you 2 things. 1. Standard rear shocks are pish for anyone at or over inters group pace 2. the single best mods you can make to your bike is having suspension done. There is NOTHING too hard about the maxton stuff on my RR7, or the RR9 i rode with the same setup, i agree that Cartridge kits are not really needed for road use, but they are not unuseable on the road either. 20mm cartridge kits are generally fine for road & fast road/trackday use, 25mm kits fast trackday lads only, as they only work right on the edge. For him to say your wasting your money is not only showing his bias but also showing you his disinterest in your custom, phone a reputable suspension supplier, 100% suspension, KTEC, FTR Moto etc. Heres my suggestion. If your looking at fast road/trackday use.. KTEC Or equivalent 20mmsstk piston kit, weight matched springs and correct oil, match that with a decent quality rear shock with weight matched spring. and spend that bit extra on having it set up, it does make all the difference. if anybody has any questions or wants to talk to me about any of my experiences feel free to PM! BTW, im no expert, just over time picked up a few things, and ridden on bikes equipped with all major types of suspension supplier! Bitubo clearly the best!
Again mint post graig with you all the way!!! My forks will be at maxton on sunday and i would love a rear shock! Stock stuff is ok if you 11 stones i aint hahahaha!!
I had Maxtom internals in my RR6 and only swapped them out because I got Ohlins R+T forks. Very little difference in my road riding experience other than the Ohlins being a bit more responsive over some of the fast bumpy roads we have over here. Also ran Maxton fork internals and a Maxton shock on my track bike and they also worked really well and were right within my budget. Doubt you'll be disappointed with the Maxton stuff.
im 17 stone all kitted up, and i couldnt do more than 3 laps on stanard stuff before it cried enough!
