So Mel Smith has died today, haven't seen him on anything for ages, but I think he went into producing and directing after the 80's, but I still remember Not The Nine o'clock news being one of the funniest programmes of my childhood, and my parents disapproving of me watching it. YouTube beckons I think.
Yes 60 is way to young to go but even in the Eighties he seemed well over weight and out of condition great programme though .
They did a sketch , cant remember if it was not the nine or smith & jones, he was being interviewed in a police station & it was being recorded, there was a clock in the background, every time the video would jump forward & he would have a black eye, then the clock would jump forward 15 minutes, then bruising on the face. I will never forget that sketch, brilliant, & the one where he goes into a tattoist to get his favourite fish tattoed on his back ( pollock), you guess what he had tattoed on there. R.I.P. Mel. & Comic strip presents.
