Anyone got any advice what size would be ideal for m'new camera then? Also SDHC vs SDXC? Is it worth the extra cash?
Currys where doing 2 16gig class 10 sandisk SDHC cards for £20. Beware buying off eBay a hell of a lot are fakes mate, and a lot are nowhere near the specs they purport to be.
A lot depends on what the max Gb your camera will support, check the book that came with it and go for the max supported class 10 card
SDXC is a bit overkill for a still camera Rich. HDvideo perhaps but I wouldn't bother for stills. Remember, it's better to lose one from a handful of 8gb cards than lose one 32gb with your entire life on it. I used to use 4gb ones as I knew when I filled one up that was a DVD's worth. The last couple of cameras I bought made me lean toward 8gb ones just because of the larger file size. I keep a couple of 32gb SDHC ones for the camcorder but even I'd get bored with 2tb's of my filming off an SDXC.
I am not sure of the specifications and what they mean Rich but I wouldn’t bother with a huge size card. If you’re anything like me you don’t bother to back them up regularly and then lose the cards. I work on the theory that it’s better to lose a few photos rather than the lot.
I run a 32gb SDHC card from mymemory.com - its easy to forget you are also carrying a full HD camcorder - results such as these: Bat eating https://vimeo.com/channels/448999/56583946 Bus starting https://vimeo.com/channels/448999/55814434
