I'm off on a 1000 mile trip to Germany this weekend and, my rear PP3 has 3 mm left in the centre and is starting to look a tad square. I'm a bit hacked off as I've only put 2k miles on it. But I'm concerned it may not last the trip. I came from a VFR1200 on PR3s. I used to get over 5k on them. But I've no previous experience of sports tyres.

    Two questions:
    1. Do I need to man up, spend the money, replace like for like and face the fact that sports tyres need replacing more often?
    2. Did I make a bad choice in PP3s and there are much longer lasting sports tyres out there?

I should point that in every other respect, the PP3s have been absolutely fantastic tyres. 2000 miles in complete confidence. I certainly wouldn't want to migrate to something less grippy to save few quid.
