I don't know who designed the fairings for the 2010 CBR1000RR but.......whoever it was.......I hope his / her groin gets infested with a nasty dose of insecticide-resistant crabs
Thankfully no. I just needed to change the clutch cable so had the right side fairing off. First time I've taken it off and was swearing most of the way through and wishing I still had my RR4
I know what you mean - I haven’t had the fairings off the 2016 yet but I hark for the ease of those on my Daytona 650
I did the same job on my old 2014.... The trick is to attach a draw line to the old clutch cable! I used some strong but thin string. Can’t remember what direction I pulled it out from but it worked a treat new cable installed after around 10 mins or so without removing a thing! I also lightly greased the whole outer cable for a smooth flow. You can also tape the new one to the old one and do the same thing. Just use plenty of tape and attach both inner cables....
To be fair the old one was incorrectly routed. There's a plastic bracket thing that was supposed to be on top of the radiator. The cable's supposed to route through it but mine was missing so I had to get a new bracket and take the radiator off
I'm still not sure I've got in routed entirely correctly. It goes over the top of the radiators, just under the air tubes and then down the side of the engine. Doesn't seem to be binding anywhere so I assume it's correct.
Remember my 2010, absolute PITA to work on under the plastics, clearly Honda had stopped being engineering led by then.
Same I used 100lb fishing line, IIRC pulled from the clutch basket end. My cable almost dies every 25K on the dot!
I wouldn't care but I replaced it because the clutch was heavy and notchy. Got a Venhill featherlight clutch cable. Pished about replacing it and having to take the rad off to replace some other missing bits, got it almost all back together and it's barely any lighter than before
When I changed mine, I didn't route it through the bracket on the rad. I think the A3 Performance Venhill cable is longer than oem and when routed through the bracket is definitely way too hard to pull in the clutch. The cable would link routed there. My cable obscures my speedo a bit because of this, but my clutch is definitely lighter now and I'm used to it there now. I originally done like others and taped the new cable to the old and pulled it through, but changed the route due to it being so stiff to pull (i'm talking about the clutch still, you dirty bastard) Just my ten pence worth. So somebody tell me how to get the plugs back on the horn without pulling the entire front end off. I wanted to change the horn but I'll settle for just reconnecting the old one now.
always check / replace the rubber mounter captive nuts as they perrish! Found that outthe hard way after I had fitted the jigsaw back together only to find th eodd fairing bolt not tightening
