    Hi Folks,

Im a tall blighter at 6"3 and so wanted to ask for thoughts on best route for lowering my footpeg height? I have read that the footpegs off a Buell can fit onto the blades but my searching hasnt revealed a lot.

Also i have seen these on the bay but im always wary of buying from China and the like on ebay: Silver CNC Adjustable Footpeg for HONDA CBR 1000 RR 04-12 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 | eBay

Anyone used these or know what like they are?

Any-other pointers or mods that can be suggested to make long commutes a little more comfortable but still retain the bladeness that i love.

    Cheers
    Mark

I'm 6'4 and use standard pegs, wouldn't lowering them just cause them to catch on corners easier?

I always thought that especially as they dont fold like the standard pegs. Im no expert in this area, but i think the idea is that they move further back, therefore extending the leg so youre not as cramped.

I had similar problems when i first got my Blade, but got good advice on here to ride more, then my body got used to the bike (probably as i hadnt been using the muscles enough before buying the Blade), but always agreed with the idea that tank range isnt long enough to give your body that much grief as you have to fill up every 100 miles or so anyway.

What i would advise is Stomp Grips or similar, these will allow you to grip with your knees more and take the strain of other areas of your body. Also move around the bike a lot, including forward & backwards on the seat which will help your back.

I'm 6ft 2" and no issues yet other than grinding the pegs on the floor at track-days so lowering them for me is a nono

Cheers for the comments folks, yes think it is just the need to use the bike a bit. Covered 120miles today with one fuel stop and didnt feel too bad feel much better when your hounding on a bit think the boys in blue would listen to that as an excuse;)

I am not that good a rider that i am scrapping the pegs maybe next year when i try a couple of track days hopefully.

I was in exact same position as you. I am 6'2 with regular riding it got a little more comfy. The situation was made worse for me from an old injury and I have limited movement in my right ancle and I could not operate the foot brake. I purchased the Gilles VCR rearsets expensive at £400 but they have transformed the bike I only wish I have done it sooner. I actually have the pegs roughly same height but slightly further back and that makes things alot better. You can move them much lower and forward and back from standard. The other thing that helps is the oem pegs point up and makes them alot higher and the gilles come out straight which gives you a little more room. I recently did a 175 mile trip stopped only for fuel got off freezing cold but no pains.

    Got to agree mate.

I fitted rearsets to my bike and I no longer have any pains from my knee after only moving them back a little, and as you said I wish I had done it sooner.
There are many to choose from for your bike, and you don't have to pay top money.

Do these GBMOTO rearsets give good adjustment options? So moving them back but pretty much on the same level gives a good feel for taller folk?

    Thanks

I made some rearset brackets for a tall fireblade rider. They made the pegs go back and down instead of back and up. They were handmade, so not blingy CNC stuff, but he was chuffed with em!

I will if peeps are interested? They are custom , hand made, so no CNC or even a milling machine on em. Also have to make extended gearshift rod/brackets and mod the master cylinder mounts. Can someone post close up pix of the standard brackets please?

How much further back and down were you thinking of moving the footrests Mark?
What is distance apart of top and bottom of rearset brackets?

    Alan,

The distance between the top and bottom bolt for holding the bracket in place is 60mm centre to centre, i was thinking of moving the bracket back say 50mm and down around 50mm do you think this is achievable? It would be good to have the adjust-ability that you mentioned on the phone..

    Cheers

Should be well possible that mate. Can you measure max width of V bracket where it bolts to frame please?.

Just been out to measure up, but you beat me to it.
Be aware of the right hand fairing fouling the back of the brake lever if you move the V shape bracket down & back though, as there's only a 25mm gap and the fairing curves up the further back you go. Also the heat shield cover bolts to the bracket, so I joining piece may need making up.
