So I have a R77 on the blade shipped from the US. I'm not due an mot for a year. Mate of mine took his z1000 down for its mot to our usual place that normally pass bikes with any exhaust. But he failed as they were not stamped. Anyone else failed because of this. They didn't moan how loud his cans were!!!
Theoretically they are illegal for road use without a stamp on but luckily none of my mot guys have ever been so anal ! Big number plates, one of my blokes had an obsession with but I've never had problems with a zorst ! Id go in and get chummy with the bloke and ask him... If he says no, go and get chummy with another one, and so on !
As far as I'm aware unless the rules have changed, to fail the bike because of the exhaust it would need to be 1. Leaking exhaust gases 2. Not secured correctly 3. Has not for road use stamped on it I have a standard exhaust on my blade and not that I have had a good look for it but I can't recall seeing a BSAU mark on it
exhaust dont need any E mark stamp for mot, as long as it dont say "not for road use" on it, if it does, grind it off or cover it up
I have my first MOT on my blade in just under 2 weeks. I asked about my can that the MOT place put on my bike at the first service and they said just make sure you keep the baffle in for the MOT. So no issues there. Only issue I may have is that I have put the normal size no plate back on with a little reflector but had cut off the extra part of the no plate that had the dealer I bought the bike from. So no postcode on the plate. I'm going to just take it and see if it passes. Fingers crossed
Go to someone else there's plenty out there who aren't so fussy checks headlights breaks bearings and that's job done he does mention the plate and debaffled exhaust but just rolls his eyes ;-)
